WTT: My Hunting Truck for a Firearm (any of equal value)

My garage clean out continues. About two years ago I purchased a 1986 Chevrolet Suburban 3/4 ton 4x4 diesel to use as a ranch/hunting truck. I decided it would be a good idea to put it up at our ranch and hunting lease so I could take my little VW diesel to the land and then drove it when I got there. The truck was bought from GSA and was previously owned by US Fish and Wildlife Service in Arizona. It has 60,000 original miles.

Details:
Year - 1986
Kind: Chevrolet K2500 Suburban 4x4
Miles: 60,000 Original
Engine: Detroit Diesel 6.2 litre
Trans: TH400
Axles: Dana 44 front, Corporate 14 rear 4:10 gears
Color: White with Blue interior

The good: It runs and drives great with no leaks. All tires have good tread and if you get it tagged you can drive it home. I have a clear title on it but have never registered it. I will get it inspected before you trade me so you won't have to worry about that. The body is very straight and it drives, shifts, stops, and starts fine. It does have factory AC but I have never used. More than likely you'll want to get the AC serviced which is typically under $80. Another good is that since I've owned it the truck has been garage kept at all times. The truck does have a factory grill guard and a roof rack that someone made for it.

The bad: It has one very small rust spot on the tailgate and one that's not even the size of a dime on one side panel. They aren't deep at all. I have been around the and under it and have found no other rust except for on the roof rack that was made for it there is some surface rust. Finally when I picked up the truck someone had managed to break the back window. Because of this the rear headliner was sagging after they let it sit outside. So I took the headliner down so I could see out the back but I have retained all the parts. Getting new carpet put on the headliner mold and putting in new glass will cost less than $200 and both can be installed in less than a few hours with absolutely nothing but a screw driver. As I said before since I've had the truck it has always sat in my garage.

I only have the one picture of the truck for now that I took with my wife on it the day the guy dropped it off at my place. I can snag more this afternoon. If you're far away I can transport but will have to work out the cost of my diesel (something like 50/50). Also I will take a video of it cranking on a cold start. This truck always cranks right up with a quick turn of the key. I will change the oil and the fuel filter before you pick it up. The diesel that was in it was drained when I bought it and I put fresh diesel in her. Since then I drive it around the neighborhood and up to the gas station to put 2-3 gallons in it so the diesel doesn't get old and grow algae in it. I also use fuel additive.

The only reason I want to trade this truck is that it's literally my fourth 4x4 truck. :banghead: I have a Dodge 2500 4x4, a K5 Blazer, and a Toyota FJ60. Plus my VW and a Honda XR650L. My garage is just way too crowded and this one takes up the most room and gets used the least. As with the motorcycle I recently had and traded on here I just have to let go of a few "projects".

I originally paid $1250 for this truck with GSA and then had it delivered from the San Antonio area. I'm not asking for that. If you have a firearm (any firearm) that you're willing to trade that comes close to that value let me know. Please don't try to trade me you S&W Sigma 9mm and a half a box of WWB ammo though. I just need the room and firearms take up a lot less space and seem to get used more around my house! :fire

PM me if you're interested. This would make a great hunting or ranch truck. Also if you have a teenager I think it would make a great first truck. This thing has never been accused of going fast and starts over revving in the high 60s. So your kid would have to try hard to race in this thing. Also they can run it into a another car and probably drive away without a scratch.

As an added bonus if you want to trade something a little more valuable I'll be happy to get the headliner in and the rear glass installed. It won't take me long. Also if you aren't that up to date on how to do it and you buy those just bring them by and I'll be happy to spend the time and show you how for no additional compensation. It won't take long at all.

As with all my sales/trades, Mr. Salesman of the Year is obligatory. :anamatedbanana :anamatedbanana :anamatedbanana

PM replied to. Also I had to answer a question in a PM so I'll post the answer here in case anyone else has the same question.

What do you mean by "over revving"?
Over revving just means that the vehicle was made to run about 55 mph. So driving it like most people do on the interstate now adays, at 70-80 mph, will make the engine run at a pretty high RPM and therefore wear out faster. So if you get it just try to do around 60-70 when you're running around on the interstate. Its seems to be most happy around 60-65. Or you can go faster but the engine will be running hard and you'll hear it loud and clear at that speed. I'm just anal about how I run my vehicles so I don't like running them real hard and fast for long periods of time.

By the way I did forget to mention that there's a small tear on the drivers seat from people getting in and out. It has a seat cover on it so forget it's there. Also the dash does have cracks. I've seen guys get replacements without cracks at pick-a-parts for $15. I got mine new at a GM dealership for my Blazer for $125. Of course it's cosmetic so if you want you can leave it as is and it won't effect a thing. Because it's vinyl you can also fix the cracks with a razor blade and then silicone.

There are numerous websites that show how to do that. Basically you cut out the cracks using an exacto blade cutting at an angle so that the crack turns into a "V" in the dash. Then just fill in with silicone using your finger to apply. Then let sit over night. Sand smooth, add dash conditioner and wait a day. Then prime and paint dash with vinyl paint that can be found at any auto parts store. Very easy and cheap.

Two questions:

1. Is it EMP proof?

2. Is the girl included? :smilelol5:

1) Of course it is! If an EMP hits and it's not running just call me on my iPhone and let me know and I'll come get it. :biggrinjester:
Edit to add: My 1986 CUCV uses the same electrical system plus a few other items. I bought every relay, fuse, and two alternator rebuild kits (CUCVs have two alternators) and all of it fits in one ammo can. I think it would take me roughly 30 mins to replace everything if the system got shocked if it was all straight swap outs. No chasing shorts or anything. I'm told that if your system is pretty simple (like this one) if you've parked in a well sealed garage more than likely your vehicle won't be effected.

2) If you can convince her.... Well nevermind. If you have a bunch of Class III stuff we'll talk. :fire

Oh man this is going to spin the thread way out of control!

The truck has been traded and is on its way to San Antonio.

I hope PbWalker gets a lot of good use out it! :thumbs2:
