non-compliant 30.06 at a Dialysis Center

My "home" dialysis center, I go to 3 times a week for 4.5 hrs each visit, is now posted with correctly worded 30.06 notice but with small fonts. Carrying on your body is impractical while doing dialysis. The only option is to carry it tommypack or a small bag.

The most concern is while hooked up on a dialysis machine, the patient is a sitting duck for any active shooter who gains access to the dialysis hall. The only safety measure that I can see, is that anyone who wants to enter the dialysis hall has to be buzzed in.

Now, should I write to the Co management with my concern about the posted 30.06 sign?

When you say small fonts, do you mean the letters are less than 1" in height? or do you mean the sign has capital and small letters in words?

Both, Less than 1" letters and small and capital letters. It is just written on a piece of paper and posted at the front door. It is new sign.

The capitals/small letters don't matter as long as they are block font and at least 1" in height.

I would just ignore it if non-compliant. Notifying them that it is invalid may make them post a valid one.

Beiruty,

Mrs. Anygun is a dialysis nurse. Her clinic has a no firearms sign but it is not anywhere close to being 30.06 compliant.

From what I understand on what she tells me, if I was a dialysis patient I would be armed pretty much no matter what. Quite a few dialysis patients (present posters not included!!) are just a hairs width from going over the edge. I have discussed deep concealment with her but she will not do it.

Every time I am there with her I am packing at least two.

Note that she did call 911 once for a strange character. Four deputies responded in three minutes flat. Pretty good response but I did remind her that only seconds count.

Best wishes and prayer to you Beiruty. Dialysis is not fun. I hope your nurses are like my Mrs. Anygun. You are in blessed hands if they are.

Thanks a lot for your kind words. I have been at the center for like 2 months and we only got 1-min talk what to do in emergency, how to stop the machine and clamp the 2 tubes carrying your blood and disconnect from the machine, start running like a deer. However, the problem is that once you stand up you lose your blood pressure and you may get light headed and would not be able to walk.

I do not know the logistics of finding a new clinic, but If you're spending that much of your life there, I would talk to someone and ask them why they feel the need to keep out law abiding citizens who exercise their rights. While the point of keeping your mouth shut so they don't put up a legal one is valid, the mindset is screwed up. If I'm basically a captive tied to a machine that is keeping me alive in a setting where people could freak out I'm gonna be armed.

You don't say a word. You do what you have to do to survive. The most important aspect of acquired wisdom is the ability to shut your mouth when you need to. I am certain Beiruty knows this. This concept is lost on many who carry firearms.

For Dialysis patient selecting a center and some of the critiera are:
1) location the closer to home/work, the best.
2) Shifts time, starting a 6:00 AM is great if you have a full-time job.
3) Accurate start/stop time. No wait is essential, no delay when you are done to get disconnected.
4) Nice and responsive and well mannered nurses and staff.
5) Security measure if any.
6) No 30.06

I'm not sure that the concept is "lost" on me. I think and said that point was valid, I just also think that if we look at it from a business perspective that your need supports a business that is apparently anti-gun. If there was a way for you to find another place to obtain the same service then when asked why you left I'd say, "You're anti-gun."

ETA: I also am one of "those" people. I make noise. If a business does something I disapprove of I will inconvenience myself to make sure they don't get my money. I also understand that this is a health issue and therefore that may not be feasible.

Make all of the noise you want. I can count the number of medical clinics that will change their mind about allowing firearms on one fingerless hand and the odds of finding one that is gun friendly is just as remote.

I agree that we should work to change those place that seek to interfere with our RKBA, but the medical establishment is the worst of them all.

"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act."

Interesting.

A non-CHL friend was on dialysis in ft Worth for a few years recently.
He told me once that quite a few of the other patients using that facility made him concerned for his personal safety.

Yes it is when applied in the proper context.
