I actually have an Arizona CWP application in hand. I will be traveling to Las Vegas in June (business trip) and wanted to get prepared. But, now that the reciprocity act is in the Senate, I am starting to dread spending the $60 on the AZ licence.

I don't know that it will pass and I am still not thrilled about using the 10th amendment as justification. But, if it passes, it would make getting licences from other states unnecessary.

Anyway if I decide to wait, as best I can tell there is nothing to prohibit me from flying with the gun in my luggage as normal as long as it stays locked in my luggage until I get into my hotel room - correct?

It is possible that the mounting pressure across the country for a more gun friendly environment even in the Constitutional rights denying States will lead to Senate action. But I think that you and and I have a better chance of picking 6 good numbers in Lotto Texas tonight. I seriously doubt that the insulation from reality that exists in Washington would permit Senate action before the November elections. Even if that happened, I can see a Presidential veto. BHO cannot afford to alienate any of his Liberal base and him signing S 2188 and rolling over Mayor Bloomburg would do just that. The firestorm that will occur if the Senate passes the bill will dwarf the one from the Liberal colleges and universities in Texas last year over campus carry. If you think the sky was falling then, just wait and see how many Chicken Littles in NJ, IL and NY whip up the "blood will run in the streets" line.

I think that your $60 investment is a safe one. I'm planning a similar one myself if we are able to start traveling more this year as my wife recovers from surgery. Having OH and WVA covered gives me a lot of route options out of PA. We would like to tour NH, too, but there is no way to get there today. All the roads are blocked with anti-2A police forces.

So I am going to go ahead and send of for the AZ plastic. My packet has two purdy blue fingerprint cards that have to be completed. How does one go about getting assistance with this?

The local PD should be able to help. That's who did mine when I lived in Fort Bend County.

I did apply for the AZ permit, but as of yesterday it was still not in the mailbox. I leave out Tuesday morning, so unless I am lucky enough for it to arrive tomorrow, I won't be carrying in NV.

So again I ask for confirmation that having it in my luggage and declaring it at the airport in Vegas are legal.

I recall that Obama is already on record that he will veto any such bill that comes to his desk, so the only way this will pass while he is president is if it is buried in some other bill that he wants more than he doesn't want national reciprocity. For $60, I'd go ahead and spend the money.

TAM, I did spend it ... chasfm11 convinced me it was a sound investment. I mailed the package at the end of April, but the permit has not yet arrived and I leave Tuesday.

So more than likely I will NOT have it for my trip which is why I am trying to confirm the non-CHL applicable possession laws for NV.

I also got an AZ non-res permit. I was in Las Vegas last Feb. I carried everywhere I went without issue.

To answer your question regarding checking your gun going and coming back, that should not be an issue. The ticket agents just want to make sure it's unloaded and packed properly. They will not ask for your chl in either location. At least they didn't for me. Hope that helps.

Do NOT, repeat NOT open carry in and around Las Vegas. They don't take the same view of the 2nd Amendment that the rest of the state does. And I have separate verification of this from a friend of mine who is (pro-gun) LEO in northern California and travels there with some degree of regularity.

I did a power plant project in Yerington, NV in '69, '70.

Since then, we've been to Vegas and Reno/Sparks and most places in between a couple of times. We've left nothing in Vegas or Reno/Sparks. In between Vegas and Reno/Sparks, where the real people live, your CC or your OC is welcome and not a concern. I would go back to metropolitan Nevada ONLY if it was all expenses paid by others...with no strings attached.

Cool, I'm at an unfamilar computer and clicked on the Costco shooting link. A pop up window opened when I clicked asking for a survey on Costco.

I guess I should have mentioned I don't like how they have their CHL customers killed by the police.

Why doesn't Nevada accept Texas, but accepts Arizona? I can see Nevada not accepting anyone since their CHL is gun specific.
