Where to have parts hard anodized?

I need to get a frame and main spring housing re anodized. I would prefer not to ship it out... I live near Austin, but travel to DFW frequently. Any one know of a place that does hard anodizing (type III) in the upper 2/3's of the state?

Thanks for any help!

Wasn't sure which section this should go in, so if it needs to be moved, feel free to move it!

I'm not too sure but I would suggest talking to some of the local motocyle or automotive speed shops, the ones that deal with imports will be more likely to know your answer. Just remember that when you deal with import racer types that its a different culture almost like they were imported too.

Did you check with Cen-Tex Plating on Saint Elmo? I'm guessing that if they can't help they can point you to someone who can.

I can't recommend a place, but I would only take it to a place that specializes in gun parts or at the least a place that has a lot of experience with guns.

There are many shops that anodize everything from space hardware, bicycle frames to motorcycle and car parts. You only get one chance to do it right the first time. The first step of re-anodizing is to strip off the old coating. This step involves dipping the part in a caustic solution which will dissolve aluminum. If this step isn't done properly you may remove too much material and make your frame un-useable.

For anyone else in need of same, I got emails back from Both Gleco in Rowlett and Techplate in CA. Both are very knowledgeable and claim to do a lot of firearms/parts. Gleco accepts walk in business. Techplate is an FFL so shipping them frames is easy. (they offer more services and finishes) I failed to ask Gleco, but I'd be face to face so I understand it's moot.
