I'm thinking about selling my LCP (with crimson trace) to get a Sig P290 (9mm)

I've stockpiled some 9mm (2000 rounds), and I thinking about getting a couple more thousand rounds. I've never been fond of .380 and would like to unify my calibers. I don't really have an .380 so I wouldn't be stuck with it if I sold my LCP.

I guess I don't have a specific question, other than:

Thoughts?

With the size of pocket 9mm pistols these days, I don't see any reason to carry a .380 except for people with physical limits that restrict them to .380, like severe arthritis.

I carry a .45 erry day. I would want at least a 9mm if it was me.

Moving up from a .380 to a 9mm is a good move, imo.

I always make sure a new gun will reliably feed and fire 400-500 rounds without failure before I'll add it to the carry rotation. I'll usually shoot 400 rounds range ammo and then 100 rounds of whatever self defense ammo I intend to use.

It is very rare that we will actually find ourselves in a self defense event where our lives depend upon a reliable firearm. In fact, it is my most sincere wish that I take the time and energy to carry every day for the next 30 or 40 years and find I never needed to use my gun.

However, it would be even worse to carry for years and then the one time you really need your gun is the time you find it won't feed or shoot reliably.

Expect a For Sale post on my LCP soon. I will have no qualms putting 500 rounds of 9mm through any gun.

My plastic is in the mail but I believe a .380 would be a good BUG or something to throw in the pocket for a quick jaunt to the store. Not my primary carry but better than nothing. I can't seem to sell any of my guns. They're all in good shape and function correctly. Just might need that sks or 30/30 someday. However, I do have a lorcin a might be willing to part with.

I was frustrated with my .380 and almost gave up on it. I kept having ftf problems. However, after shooting about 300 rounds it "worked itself out"? Haven't had any problems since. I trust it, especially with sd ammo.

The only .380 we have is a Bersa Thunder...its my wife's pistol (not that she shoots it much). She has wrist problems...but she really likes that Bersa and it feeds well. Not too shabby accuracy-wise, either. I wish she'd shoot more, but on the other hand, I'm glad I don't have to buy .380 very often.

I sometimes forget I have my P290 tucked into my Crossbreed. I'm waiting for the P938 though, you might want to wait a couple months!



The extended mag sure does help too!
