I noticed a Peter piper pizza here in El Paso has a small sign 6" x6" that displays NO WEAPONS but at the same time it also displays the blue signs that starts with THE UNLICENSED CARRYING OF WEAPON........ my question is the small sign that reads NO WEAPONS does that mean no chl in the restaurant? I don't see the 51% nor is there a 30.06 sign.

You said there us not a 30.06....so what's the question?? Is any sign other than the 51% or a 30.06 enforceable to a CHL? The other sign says no unlicensed... are you not licensed with a CHL?

They are expressing a wish as a property owner that you would not bring a weapon onto their property. There is no legal reason for you to obey that wish. You may choose to honor it or not, as you wish.

Some will argue that this sign was put up to comply with insurance requirements and not to express the owner's actual wish. This is unverifiable and is as likely to be true as false. You might want to consider that possibility as you decide to obey the wishes of the owners.

Would their 2 signs, reading it that way, not be in contradiction then? If one says no unlicensed and the other says no weapon?

If they sell alcohol, the unlicensed sign is required.

jmra.... there are plenty of CHL instructors teaching all no gun signs should be observed.

Oh I understand, but would seem like a contradiction if one sign says "no unlicensed" (when CHL is a license) and then to have another just saying "no weapons." I would have to decipher the meaning. To me it would mean, "no unlicensed handgun....and no other type of weapon (ie, knives, chains, etc)."

No contradiction to me. The blue sign is required by law and says it is not illegal to carry there without a license. It does not give permission to carry and does not express the owner's wishes. The second sign is the owner's expressed wish that no guns (or other weapons) be carried even if legal to do so.

The second sign is the owner's expressed wish that no guns (or other weapons) be carried even if legal to do so.
I have to disagree with that statement. If the owner has an expressed wish to keep all guns out, he should put up a valid 30.06 sign. As someone else noted, he may just be putting up the unenforceable sign to satisfy the insurance company. I would have no qualms about walking right past that sign with my sidearm on to protect myself and my family.

I quite enjoyed visiting Peter Piper's while I was in EP, and since they never were 51% or properly 30.06 posted, I carried right on in and enjoyed my pizza. :txflag:
Most of the locations in EP had similar signage if I recall correctly - the one I frequented had a simple, very small, white decal saying "no weapons" in addition to the TABC Blue signage.

It's o.k. A handgun is not a "weapon". I have never shot anyone with my gun, so it is not a "weapon". It is just a Saturday morning entertainment tool. :biggrinjester:

Carry away, there is no 30.06 sign so it's perfectly legal. :evil2:
