The NRA is a single issue organization, as it should be.
Remember the flak they took for supporting Harry Reid?
If democrats supported gun rights, the NRA would support more of them.
Pretty much that simple.

One of the reasons that the reported number of people who own firearms keeps going down is that fewer and fewer people are willing to admit to anyone in "authority" (including pollsters) that they own firearms. Yes, I have several firearms in my "collection" and so do many others...but a LOT of people in this country own one or two firearms and they just don't admit it, except to friends and family. The vast numbers of new firearms of the most basic types sold in any given year that wouldn't be of interest to "collectors" (I remember reading somewhere that most of the big firearms manufacturers are running three shifts), plus the number of USED firearms that get re-sold, should actually tell the tale...but the mainstream media will spin the dickens out of the data to win over the hearts and minds of the gullible in our nation...
One thing I found funny was down in the comments where someone was talking about the "thousands" of "bullets" that gun owners have...somehow, I don't think they have a clue how many rounds are really in private hands...it must be like watching a horror movie to admit to themselves that there are "thousands" of rounds out there, that way it only scares them a little bit...but they would probably stay awake all night if they knew the real number.

Per household. Right?
Two bricks of 22 is a thousand right there and if you're going to wait for the guy with the key at Walmart you mights as well buy 5 or 6.

That is a distinct probability right there. If someone I do not know asks me if I have any guns the answer is no unless I am required to answer truthfully.
