Col
ombia is the northernmost country in South America and the home of Juan Valdez.
Col
umbia is another name for North America, seen mostly in the name of the piece of land where our nation's capital is located and Columbia Pictures.
Every time you write Columbia instead of Colombia, a rabid chinchilla infested with fleas will be set loose in your bedroom.

There was a pundit blurb the other day that noted how many MSM reporters were mixing up the two in their articles...and noting that one of the influential journalism schools has its home at ...Columbia University.
However, Columbia will probably be as popular as "discrete" carry and "roll" playing...

The illiterate will inherit the earth. I've given up trying to keep people straight on "rein in" and "free rein," both of which often are written as "reign."

Aargh! I better stay out of any grammar discussions. For everyone's sanity. "Should of" instead of "should've?" "That" instead of "who" when referring to a person? I better stop now. I keep my pet peeves under wraps, but aaargh! LEARN grammar! People. It's not that hard.

That's part of my point. People will write thousands of words about misuse of
clip for
magazine and more obscure terminology, then conclude with something like, "I could care less."
BTW, don't forget the infamous AR-15 banana clip:

...I wish I had a poster...that looks downright presidential!!!
...because it's a pot of melted crayons as far as origins go, the English language is often best understood when it is misused...adding our cultural and regional (and personal) quirks make it American...from Will Rogers to Minnie Pearl, great comedy comes from murdering the King's English...on purpose...as long as I can get the point, I don't belabor the delivery...get the point?!!!

What word in the English language becomes shorter as you add letters to it?
(No cheating!)
