Classroom Firearm classes should NEVER have any live ammo in the room. This is a long standing rule with any of the NRA classes.

There is absolutely no reason at all to have live ammo in any classroom, PERIOD.

Snap caps with real firearms and Red Guns should be the only thing used in a classroom.

For CHL holders, all legal rules apply. It stays concealed. I don't wanna see it. If there is any training to be done, they have to either suck it up and leave the ammo in the car or bring a 2nd pistol to demo with.

For CHL classes, I ask students to bring their pistol inside so I can do a function check but I insist that they leave ammo in the car.

TDD,

that's the way it should be. when i took my CHL class it was at a range/gun shop in conroe. a few of us had the same gun and were poking around the hogue grips for sale, wondering how they felt.

i bought mine and had the fella behind the counter slip it on for me.

when i went back in to the classroom after our break, i stopped by the table of the guys who were wondering about the grips along with me to show it to them...

i got scolded BIG time for having my firearm out in class, as i should have.

now, mine was NOT loaded but the fundamentals are the same and it really made me 'snap to' in regards to awareness.

Seems everyone is ignoring the big elephant in the room....the numbskull shot his WIFE! If they both live to be 100 yrs old she will still be bringing it up!

"Oh yeah Mr. Know It All, just like that time back in 2012 when you shot me!"

:smilelol5: :smilelol5: Sometimes when the phone autocorrects text, it comes out as pretty humorous. I can spell couch. Apparently Siri disagrees with my word choice.

It wasn't me, it's Siri's fault.

Interesting. In each of my 2 classes, which were at indoor ranges, I don't remember anyone going out to the car to put rounds in their range bags when we went to the range room. Everyone seemed to have a range bag with them in class, presumably holding live rounds. The second time, I had 3 loaded mags in the bag ready to go. The instructor didn't say anything like "Before we start class, if you have ammo in here, go put it in the car. If someone dropped you off, go give it to someone behind the desk to hold it for you." He handled my empty weapon and said it was too oily, but didn't mention ammo. :headscratch
