So what does everyone use for a belt for IWB carry? I have thought about ordering a Crossbreed Belt but they are a pretty long lead item... I will probably order one anyway because I am going to order on of the Supertucks for my Glock 23 but I have an IWB also coming from White Hat.... and from what I have read numerous times on tis site, you can't have enough belts and holsters!!

I use the same belt for IWB and OWB. Is there a difference?

I'm just gonna assume you've visited http://www.crossbreedseconds.com/ and searched for you gun? If not, they had a Glock 23 in excellent shape for immediate shipping! Don't know what other weapons you've got but its worth a look!

Keep looking, they update it daily, and there are always plenty of Glock holsters. I've been able to get one for every weapon I own through them!

Everyone should have at least one Instructor style belt. I have two, a Black 1.5" Uncle Mike's and an OD 1.75 Original Wilderness Instructor belt. I also have two Wilderness Frequent Flyer belts that go well with Dockers the Instructor belts are best for jeans and cargo pants. The great thing about these belts is you aren't going to have to poke another hole to tighten or loosen the belt a little. Wilderness made the first ones but there are other makers take a look.

I recently acquired an Ares Ranger Belt and I really like it. Before that I had been using a 5.11 1.5 trainer belt.

Worth every penny. Sometimes they run a sale on "scratch and Dent" items for spares, you can get E-mail notices of those sales..

I have a two Original Wilderness Instructor belts - one black and one coyote. They both get a lot of use, especially in the summer.

I have very high praise for the two listed below. Lead times aren't bad and the cost is also better than many top name makers.

Are you saying the Beltman is not as good as the two that you listed?

I can't speak of the Beltman's belts from personal experience, but I've never heard anything negative from the folks I know who have them.

A friend of mine has Crossbreed's and is quite happy with it.

I bought one from a local maker (one of Hoffner's sub contractors, I believe, or maybe it was a Hoffner in-house) a couple of years ago, and loved it until I shrunk enough that I can't use it anymore.

My wife just got a CompTac double-layer with the velcro sewn on the back, and as far as I'm concerned, it's the best gun belt I've handled yet, and with the velcro, also the most versatile....I'll be ordering myself one soon.

For daily "off the shelf" wear, I use the 5.11 leather-over-kydex belts. They work great, look decent (they DO have that "off duty cop look"), and they're cheap...about the cost of a decent dress belt ($30-40) at the army-navy stores.

A good belt with a clunky holster is a usable combination. A top of the line holster with a useless belt is still useless. It was a hard-won lesson for me :)

As for IWB/OWB, I use the same belts...just a different notch. Comp-tac's measurement instructions are based around IWB carry, and will work either way. If you intend to carry strictly OWB, he suggests dropping 2" (I think) from the "measured" size you need. His instructions worked perfectly for my wife, BTW, who is pretty new to IWB carry.

Honestly, with the supertuck/king tuck style holsters, you can get by with a thinner belt (but it will sag if it isn't tight enough). The holster itself helps to distribute the weight over a larger area. I carry with gun belts and walmart belts alike wearing t-shirts in the summer and haven't been made/don't print any worse. The only exception if is a belt is really flimsy.

Concerning the Crossbreed lead time and higher price, a LEO friend of mine recommended this guy, who makes horsehide Supertuck style holsters for $45 in about a week of ordering from what he said. Unfortunately, I had already ordered and broken in a Supertuck, so I can't really comment on the quality. Here is the website if you are interested. http://www.butschersleather.com
