A 27-year-old man from Baytown, Texas, was sentenced last week in Lander, Wyoming, to five to eight years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. He had fatally shot his cousin while they re-enacted a movie scene.
When [the defendant] pleaded guilty to the charge under an agreement in February, he told [the] Judge ... the shooting happened after he and [the deceased] returned from a downtown bar to their hotel room.

The two decided to re-enact a movie scene that involved a gun one of them had brought. The clip [sic] had been removed, and they thought it was unloaded.
Afterward the defendant fled town. He was found and arrested two days later.

The defendant pled guilty. None of the facts were in dispute.

It doesn't say which movie, but I'm guessing it wasn't Rooster Cogburn.

Lay off with the "clip" already. I got that memo. ;-)

I don't buy it. Who re-enacts movie scenes? Yeah right!

Drunks?

There have been a whole bunch of shootings that involved someone using a firearm in a re-enactment or the like. There was another one posted just the other day about a guy getting killed in an initiation ceremony.

BTW, I hope everyone got the memo to never ever let anyone use a real firearm in a play, amateur video, or as a starter pistol. Realistic-looking Airsoft guns cost, what $20-30?
