What do you think if you feel your girlfriend is going to want you to leave your best friend for 10 years, because he smokes? I am moving in with the GF soon, and she doesn't want him over because he somkes. Okay, we can deal with that; i'll just go to his place, but if you end up coming to the point where you don't want me to be around him because he smokes.. Thats asking too much IMO. I've been put in the middle between my 2 best friends too many times..My girlfriend is a straight-edge girl, and I don't smoke, and I don't drink. No point in drinking for me.
How do you guys and girls feel about this?

No smoking in the house and car? Perfectly reasonable... I know chain smokers who have that policy. No hanging out in the smoking section at restaurants and bars? Eh, kinda anal but whatever. No friends who smoke? Unreasonable, IMHO. What would she do if a member of her family started smoking, shun them?

...I would perceive that complaint as a symptom, not the real ailment...and make my decisions accordingly...
...the guy I work with...who is also my closest friend...smokes like a chimney...only twice has my wife complained of smoke hanging in my jacket...in over 10 years...

Sounds more like a control issue rather than a friend that smokes issue.

We have had a lot of ups and downs but we have always got better and grew closer. Its not cigs, but yeah its personal about him smoking. The thought of her doing that did win the battle, so I was stressing out that she would actually do that. We talked it out and she won't do that, she says.
haha, I just saw the rules face for the first time.

Ahh wish I had that one for text mesages.

I would be very concerned about what rules and demands might come up
after the wedding.

I don't offer advice on relationships, but
What would you do if she wouldn't let you have a friend because he owned a gun?

One of my friends married someone only to find out after the wedding she is bipolar and her family has a history of being bipolar. He got the marriage annulled, but that goes to show you what happens if you don't do your due diligence and rush into to something.

Lol, all three of us like guns, and my gf is getting other bills out of the way first, before we go buy her a gun.

Sounds unreasonable to me.
Careful with an unreasonable SO..... I've had buddies, both male and female, who had unreasonable SO's.. they never ended well. If compromise isn't learned and practiced from the get-go, I suggest finding yourself a comfortable place on the bottom of the totem pole.

not even a ring yet and she's already telling you who can come over and play and who can't...
Have fun with that.
