Okay, its one thing that the guy can make them look as realistic as they do. Its another that they have detachable magazines and moving parts. But its mind-boggling that he could make them "fire"!

That is one of the coolest Lego creations I have ever seen. I spent the better part of my childhood building legos and I have to admit that I am glad we had boys. I can still play with them under the guise that I am "helping" my sons. I don't think mommy would be real happy if we were building Lego guns though.

Way cool! When I was teaching an engineering class a few years ago, we used the Lego Mindstorm programmable robot system... and after the required curriculum, they had a freestyle competition. One year, the winner build a towable howitzer that "fired" its shell by remote control. You can definitely have fun with Legos!

I have been a Lego fan since I was a child, and a couple of decades ago I actually built a telephone "answering" machine. My late wife gave me a Lego telephone for Christmas one year, along with my usual Lego parts gift, and although it took me a couple of years as well as one non-Lego part (a ring detector) and some electronics, I succeeded in creating a crane that would pick up the handset after two rings, pivot clockwise 90 degrees, and begin to lower it.
I still have the phone, and the designs for the crane (somewhere) and although I have given away a lot of my Legos over the years, to grandchildren, neighbors' kids, and gift drives, I have retained a core set.

Legos are reportedly among the top ten internet search subjects for Cyber Monday. Maybe this is why.

Legos have certainly changed since I bought a set for my kids many, many moons ago. Uh, so has everything else...
