Well, I am having some technical issues with getting the picture from my iphone to paste on here (I'll update from my computer when I can).

The sign reads "concealed firearms are prohibited at this facility" with a gun buster picture at the top.

Yes, I know they are not promoting open carry. , but why even specify "concealed" on their gun buster, I feel singled out

...at some point in the past...a bureaucratic-minded administrator looked at that newly-placed sign and said "There...now we're safe..."

...so sad...wait'll the thugs wake up and realize what's in the pharmacy of the nursing homes...and how little stands between them and it all night...

Wouldn't want anyone old and senile carrying...

In any case, the sign has no bearing for you as long as it isn't a compliant 30.06 sign. Carry away. The nursing home my MIL stayed in until just before her death had those same signs at the entrances. I ignored them.

I went to see my Mom yesterday at her new assisted living home in Austin, there was no 3006 sign, so I carried. They do Sunday mass in the home, so on our way to mass Mom puts her arm around me and says, " Do you have a bottle in your pocket?" My sister has her CHL also caught on right away and said, "no its a life preserver". Then my 88 year old Mom said "I don't want to go fishing, I want to go to church." We had a good laugh and a great day.

The term 'concealed handgun' seems to be used so commonly these days and is so ingrained that perhaps it never occurred to the person who created the sign that what they really wanted to say was 'No Handguns Allowed', but weren't all lawyered up so didn't know enough to post the correct signage. By the way, are there any sign manufacturers who produce 30.06's for order? Seems like someone would be making these, and also their mailing list might be available for sale.

I suspect that the real problem here is poor research. Many different kinds of medical and nursing facilities seem to be changing administrations across State lines. Health South, for example, consolidated a lot of differently owned businesses under that one corporate name. My guess is that the person responsible for the sign lives in a State were even a gun buster sign is valid for CHL or whatever name that State chooses to give it. It is not the easiest thing for a non-resident to read the TPC and come up with the correct answer for a prohibiting sign. So they just went with what they had and figured close enough is good enough. The sad truth is that in some Towns, it might be.

...well, now that you've insulted about half of us, do we get a donut with that???

...I'm not recommending that anyone break the law...but I've known "folks" who've carried all their lives...anywhere there wasn't a metal detector in place...and never had a whisper of the problem...because they never let on that they carried...loose lips still sink ships...
