Federal small pistol primers

I was just told, by an employee in a small local reloading supply shop that I frequent, that their distributor told them that Federal primers will not be available for 12-24 months! Has anyone else heard this? Additionally, how do the Match grade primers compare with the standard Federal 100's, especially as to hardness?
