MPA and Motorcycles?

Does MPA include motorcycles? and if so where and how do you conceal the gun on your bike?

I ride a sport bike and I am very limited on where I can secure my gun other than on me.

It does, but as your second question indicates, you have discovered the limitation that motorcycles in general have in this area and the even bigger problem that sport bikes pose for someone that would like to carry under the MPA. When I had my bike I carried in a tank bag. If I did not have a CHL I would not have done this because I would not have left it in the tank bag on the bike. The small space under the seat might have been big enough to hold my gun, but I never tried. The bigger problem with that would have been getting it into the space without anyone seeing me do that. There are some bike that this can be done, carrying under the MPA, but I don't think I would comfortable leaving my gun with my motorcycle while I went somewhere else.

1. Hard side case.
2. Hard top case.
3. Tank bag.
4. Saddle bags.
5. On your person, but don't get off the bike until you're home.
6. Long gun instead of hand gun.

The hump on my former street bike accommodated a subcompact well. It was key locked. Downside is slower access to pistol. Image

Not for sport bikes (I riding a cruiser), but my wife is looking at making a windshield bag that will conceal, and give fast access.

I carried on me under MPA, and just made it a point that I didn't go any place but work (guarded lot) and home until I got my CHL.

According to your signature, MPA does not apply to you since you have had your CHL since 9 May 2012.

Yes it applies, but as others have mentioned.. what do you do when you get off the bike and are not going directly to your home or a building you control?

For me it's a tank bag... but I have not carrier ed under MPA, always CHL, so the what to do question does not apply.

Though in reality, if I was getting off the bike to walk in to a eating place, motel, gas station for a gas up, rest, drink, bathroom break. I'd not be overly concerned.

I have a hard trunk and side cases on my bike. However, I usually carry on my person via a Galco Escort waistpack. I only use the hard luggage for gun storage if I can't carry inside for some reason (like when I ride to work). Then, carrying in the Escort pack makes it easy to store the gun in the truck without having to unholster and take the chance of prying eyes seeing my gun.

So another consideration.

My wife and i ride together each decent weekend...both sport bikes, no hard cases to store in. I carry 90% time in a supertuck...10% in the tank bag. hers is in the tank bag for now.

She does not yet have her CHL, likes to shoot, but has been satisfied with being armed or available to be at home and in the cars, trailer, truck... now thinking she would like to carry at will :hurry: anyway. in the mean time.

On the bikes... she carry's under MPA... and when we stop, I take control of the gun, it becomes my BUG :smilelol5:
just another idea if traveling in pairs or a group and at least one rider has a CHL.

Sounds like the soultion here would be for her to get her CHL.

(Also sounds like the perfect excuse to buy some hard luggage for the bike...)

Oh that is the solution, at first she choose not to carry, then as that idea warmed up to her, it was the time involved, as of this weekend, it was when can you find me a class :hurry:

Congratulations on your wife's impending class.

I'm old enough to be one, but my daughter's not old enough to make me a grandpa yet. I just sold my Hayabusa last week. If I ever get another bike it'll probably have bags on it, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. I've been riding for over 30 years, but haven't put more than a few hundred on it in each of the last three. Now, whenever I shop for a car I check to see where can I stow my gun if I need to.

Ouch! You wound me, sir! (Dang whippersnapper!)

A 'Busa may beat me on the highway, but I bet I can go places he wouldn't dare follow!
