Firearms instructor accidentally shoots self during class

"According to the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office, Michael D. Craig, 59, owner and instructor at Ohio Shooting Sports, was showing students at Briar Rabbit Shooting Sports on Granger Hill Road how to take a defensive stand and shoot close to a target".
just a little reminder that it can happen to any of us.

Them pesky (Safety-less) Glocks again!
This will be picked up on by the Brady's due to all of his NRA Certifications. They will run this into the ground.
I am glad to hear he survived.

When Craig went to reholster the gun for the third time, he pulled the trigger and shot himself in the right calf, Craig told Bohn.
Same way all other Glock owners that have shot themselves did.

Yeah, I was making a snarky response to the "Safety-less Glocks" comment. One of the three safeties is built into the trigger. You can't blame the gun for firing when the trigger's pulled (since that's what it's supposed to do).

Unfortunately the human brain goes into neutral or park without the person realizing it. If it were different, we would never injure ourselves in
any way, and we would be mistake free.

I've known Michael Craig for years from Ohio IDPA matches. He's a terrific guy and I hope he heals quickly without lasting issues.
He sent these thoughts to a different forum:
Once I have had time to think about the incident in an objective way
I should be able to use this accident in a constructive way to help others
who are interested in training for real world self defense. This was a
Close Quarters Combatives drill utilizing a handgun. It was not an accident
that can be attributed to the holster or firearm make or model. It was a
training methodology problem. This incident clearly could have been avoided
in a training environment but may not have been avoided in a real world
dynamic incident where things change quickly in a close quarters fight that
involves a handgun. Give me a little time and I think I can help others use
my experience is a positive manner.
