Friday Afternoon Excitement

One of my grandsons(14) has been spending the week with us and was fishing at the river in front of the house....he comes strolling up with a fishing lure hanging out of his chin(ouch). The hook was up past the barb so the only way I knew to get it out was to push it through and cut the barb off. Grandma was having no part of that. She took him into town (425 people) to the EMS station and they sent her to Uvalde to minor emergency clinic where they did what I was going to. But they did use lanacaine.(sp).
He did well through it all, Actually thought it was kind of funny at times.

Ouch. Been there done that with a finger, but not chin. Painful enough in the finger!

And, it was lidocaine as a local anesthetic, not Lanacane, but Lanacane actually could have been used afterward to help stop the burning.

Finger likely hurt more ..... more tactile sensors there. Likely needed a Tetanus booster and a good clean out! Never boring with kids huh?

I got a good laugh out of that one, thanks Keith.

(The lidocaine/Lanacane thing...I'm sure the fishhook wasn't any fun. )

His dad and I took a fishhook out of a Canadian kid's back here in the Park on Flathead Lake last summer. The 10 (+/-) yo boy hardly wimpered. I reckon there were too many people watching and offering advice for the lad to show how he really felt?

In elementary school, I sat on a lure that had 2 treble hooks ... not a happy ending. (Pardon the pun)
also
years ago my brother's doberman ran behind me and found a treble hook in his side, we did the push through cut it off thingy, dog dragged my rod half a mile before we caught it.

Didn't even use oral-gel to deaden it.

Hmmm, since you SAT on it, perhaps Lanacane WOULD have been the proper treatment... :evil2:
(And now you know the "Trouble with Trebbles")
