On the Arctic Ocean, Prudhoe bay oilfield.
Thought I'd share with yall. It's something I never thought I'd see and I'll probably never see again.
Enjoy the Texas summer it's a cool 60 degrees up here!

Looks like either East Dock or West Dock. I forget which. Spent most of the 1980's flying out of Deadhorse to the oil rigs on the barrier islands. Have a safe trip home.

Great is int it. Alaska, one of the few places the Army sent me, that was not horrible.... 5 years of exploring AK in ways and places most will never get to..
ENJOY...

Lived there as a kid. Got assigned there, married there, had kids there. Those winters are harsh, but the summers...oh, well, they're harsh too (dang skeeters and no-see-ums).
Had fun though - summer solstice parties were awesome

Picture taken close to mouth of the Kuparak river. (northwest of deadhorse)
Skeeter's arent bad right now thank goodness. The constant daylight has been messing with the sleep though. Lots of cool wildlife to see (unfortunately not shoot).
Thank's for the kind wishes folks!

Guess they built some more roads since I was there. The mosquitoes aren't bad at all on the slope. Cool temps and wind keep them down. But, inland a few miles, all bets are off. Don't let them carry you off

I'm sure you'll enjoy the ride back "down" Atigun Pass. A lot more exciting than the ride up

Yeah, I was in North Pole in the interior, next to the Tanana River and the vicious-insect-breeding-ground bogswamp that's delicately called "Tundra" to the south and west. Man, when those things hatch, they do NOT care what repellent you have on!
