Cowitness - True or 1/3?

All,

I just ordered an Aimpoint Micro T1 and still need to get a mount. While I understand what the actual difference is between true and 1/3 cowitness, I am curious to know, from those with experience, what they think. Is it just mainly head position/comfort or is there some type of tactical advantage using one or the other?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

I like absolute cowitness, but it really depends on your application. Some people that think they may need the 1/3 for being able to pick up extra targets easier. I shoot with both eyes open so I don't see that as a problem. My ak has a microdot that is 1/3 and to me its just weird having all that space above the dot.

Lower 1/3rd for me. I find the cheek weld preferable, and don't like the clutter of absolute co witness since I don't use flip down sights. . Even with flip down sights, I think I would still prefer the taller RDS mounting. Larue makes the best mounts IMHO.

Thanks for the response Sputz and giga04.

Giga04 - Any experience/thoughts on the Larue QD mount? I read good things about it, and it costs the same as the standard mount.

Thanks Again,

Mark

I use flip up sights and absolute co-witness. Saved me in a three gun match when my batteries died on about the third shot, just reached out and flipped up the sights and went right on shooting without changing my cheek weld.
