How many states honor the Texas CHL?

According to the Texas State Rifle Association, 30 states honor the Texas CHL:

According to http://www.handgunlaw.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, I count 34 states:

I went to the Texas DPS site and found this page:

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/RSD/CHL/legal/reciprocity/#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is the difference due to states like Vermont which don't have an agreement with Texas, but allow anyone who can legally carry to do so? Another discrepancy I found, for example, is Iowa - if you click on the DPS map, they show Iowa as not allowing Texans to carry there, but handgunlaw.us shows that Iowa honors Texas's permit.

More than enough that you don't need to go anywhere else.

this was in reference to FLA but what about Texas. Did New Mexico change their minds? The map shown in this thread has NM as honoring Texas, didn’t that change

March 26, 2012: NEW MEXICO removed from the list because New Mexico authorities terminated the agreement. May 8, 2012: NEW MEXICO re-added to the list after authorities at the New Mexico Department of Public Safety confirmed that they would once again honor Florida concealed weapon

Seems like I read somewhere recently that Ohio had something better working. Have not had time to research, but maybe ...

Well, DPS used to have a list of reciprocal and unilateral states on their website. However, they've replaced it with this where you have to 'mouse over' each state to determine it's status. So if you're patient (more patient than I am) you can figure it out one state at a time, there.

Note to DPS -- It sure would be nice to have a list, in addition to the map. Also, it would be helpful if the map were color-coded, say blue for Texas, Green for a reciprocal state, yellow for a unilateral state, and red for a 'no-agreement' state. Then mouse over for any notes for the individual state.

P.S. to DPS -- Also the map is pretty much useless for those microscopic states in the north-east. :mrgreen:

The DPS site shows Wisconsin as a "no agreement" state. The pretty map above shows it as OK to carry.

Although difficult to use the DPS site does give more information. For example California CHL holders can legally carry in Texas. Of course this is more amusing than it is informative.
