EPCOT Energy going out of business?

I got an email/solicitation from a different electrical provider stating EPCOT Electric is going out of business. Does any body use EPCOT as a EE provider and did you get the same message? I am going to call PUCT tomorrow to verify. All calls to EPCOT only got "voice mail box full". Per the email users will be switched to the provider of last resort (POLR) at 0.18 to 0.25 per kwh.

When I read this at 8 before I had coffee I thought you wrote ERCOT was going out of business.

Who's EPCOT Energy? How will Disney's Epcot Center stay open without power?

Yeah! That's what I thought when I saw them listed on Powerto choose website a few years ago. they had the cheapest rates by far back then. PUCT said they are trying to resolve their problems and the company that offered to replace them had the lowest rate but have pulled that offer until further notice. I was attempting to find out the legitimacy of the going out of business information. I'm switching away from EPCOT anyway. I'm now waiting for the Mickey Mouse comments and posts

We use stream and have always been very happy with them. The were the lowest when we signed up. Doubled the square footage of our house and the bill has remained the same as with our old house that was under a diffrent provider. If you are looking to change anyway, that's another to look into.

Thanks. I signed up with Summer Energy as they had the lowest price with 12 mo signup and using their promocode.

I called PUCT, and YEP has officially bought EPCOT. We liked promo code for Summer Energy but will have to wait until we can fulfill our contract w/YEP. PUCT rep stated that since YEP is honoring contracts, you don't want to break contact if you decide to go to another company.

Thanks, PUCT told me they should know something by Friday so that confirms it. I am OK on my switch to Summer since, my contract was up but my wife's mother still has several months on her contract.. I assume there will be notifications from YEP as she has autopay as part of her contract. BTW I was informed you can switch providers within 14 days of contract expiration with no termination penalty.

They did say there would be a notification going out of some sort--as it should be--just don't like the misinformaion out there. One posting site that was listed high in the Google search had a person state that you had better change by July 12 or you would be placed in the POLR at a very high rate. The person stated EPCOT went out of business. None of this had ever been confirmed.
The night we read the YEP email, we were up late due to that misinformation, scrambling to find a decent rate and place to contract with just in case the email was verified...seems like someone handled this is a bit of a sneaky way.

YEP sent out notices today via email that they took over Epcot July 12 and the prevailing Epcot terms would be honored. No one will be switched to POLR nor should you switch providers if your contract has time left on it. The way I read it if you switch providers before contract expiration the termination fee WILL apply. Also, if you have auto pay with Epcot, YEP requires a new ACH form be completed with them.
