Violent and erratic criminal behavior is on the rise among young adult who are drugged or claim to be drugged, is the "I am legend" drug?

A college student accused of an erratic crime spree in North Dallas this week apologized to the victims in a jailhouse interview Thursday.

Investigators say Eric Keng carjacked someone, tried to rob a business and led police on a chase in a stolen vehicle on Tuesday.

"I apologize for anything that I did to anyone. It wasn't intentional. I don't know what happened," Keng told NBC 5 in an exclusive interview.

Or is it just an excuse?

It's probably the unpopular position here, but I am inclined to believe him, pending any knowledge of prior issues with law enforcement. And regardless of prior history, I am certain that he is genuinely apologetic. Whether or not we show him grace in the long run depends on several factors.

It remains to be seen when his tox screen comes back exactly what he was under the influence of, and whether he had a history of drug abuse. He said that he took an energy supplement before heading to the gym, which is something that he did regularly and had never had any kind of reaction to it.

There is more than one possible explanation:

1. He's a liar and a serial drug abuser. We'll find out, won't we?

2. He's telling the truth, and someone actually did slip him a mickey.

3. He's telling the truth, and he had a first time bad reaction to the pre-workout energy supplement (I've never trusted those things myself).

4. He's telling the truth, and he had a first time psychotic episode of unknown etiology.

5. Some combination of any of the above.

I don't want to comment any further on this guy until the facts shake out. There but for the grace of God go I.

Ugh. Better than that, go read the book. Its a short, quick read....but its amazing. And the movie was barely tangentially related to the book.

Because of this thread I bought the "The Omega Man" DVD, which I watched last night. It's strange that I had never watched the movie before, but I enjoyed it. There is something about the cinematography of the early 70s movies that I like. Of course Charlton Heston was great. In spite of her contrived character and outlandish wardrobe, I enjoyed Rosalind Cash's performance.

One scene was kind of funny when, Col Neville [Heston] tossed a machine gun to Lisa [Cash] as he was leaving to check the perimeter. She asked, "What's this for"? "Comfort," Neville answered.
