Cops nab bold burglar
A burglar was caught in the act by an Argyle resident on Tuesday.

Police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Knob Hill Ct. around 9:00 a.m., where the homeowner found 37-year-old Christopher Sanders allegedly in the process of stealing his computer. The resident attempted to hold Sanders at gunpoint until police arrived, but the bandit bolted for his getaway vehicle.

As Sanders drove off, the homeowner shot one round from his handgun into the truck's radiator. The resident then followed Sanders to the I-35W and FM 407 interchange, where Sanders' vehicle gave out. After a short foot pursuit, officers from Argyle, Northlake and the Pct. 4 Constable's Office apprehended Sanders. He was then booked into the Denton County Jail on a burglary charge.

I'd say a radiator hit was effective this time. Kind of like a gut shot deer. Sooner or later it's going to bleed out and stop running.

You're only confused cause he left out the part about the mousetrap and string.

It's kind of like my IDPA stage with a balloon behind the zero section of the target. In order to see the targets behind the first one you had to hit COM and pop the balloon, whereupon the target dropped out of the way and you went ahead and engaged the BGs behind it.

Of course only one person failed to make a COM hit on the first shot, that being the stage designer and match director - ME!

The engine overheated. A Cz 52 in tokarev ammo will surely penetrate engine block. Oil trail where the bad guy goes.

Oh boy. A 7.62 (.30 caliber) pistol round will not penetrate engine blocks. A rifle with AP ammo might.

The guy shot the radiator. Lose water and the vehicle overheats. Keep friving and it locks up.

Everyone should understand that cars are pretty tough. My internet is moving very slow so I can't get the exact distance, but it looks like the guy made it 25 miles before it broke down. Depending on how he was driving he might of been able to go a lot further if he had driven slower. Think about that, he drove for almost a half hour.

As for penetrating engine blocks, I suppose that depends on where it hits. On the front much of the block is obscured by accessories, on the top; cast iron heads are pretty thick and the intake might cause an issue if it was penetrated because of vac loss. From the bottom, no problem, most bullets would likely slice right through the pan. From the sides, body panels, exhaust manifolds, and other accessories would be in the way.

Also, I assume that its some sort of crime to try and disable a car by shooting at it, had it been stolen.

Way to put it on the line. You have to test, to understand.

A radiator shot will take quite a while to disable a car completely. Ever been to a destruction derby? The goal there is to hit the opponent's car in the front (radiator) with the rear of your car. You can see cars bleeding coolant out and shooting steam and still driving for quite a long time before they'll actually go no further.

the only way to kill a car is to shoot the fuel pump, but i'm sure everyone can see the difficulties in making that shot.
