I see at my local theater says firearms prohibated continued with food/drink not allowed, no calls text, etc..it was one of those sings they just type up and print out.it was not an actual legal document.. I have not seen a 30.06 sign anywhere and I've been looking. Is it not a law for companies to post the 30.06 on the front doors, or where it is not hidden?

No. Carry away. Those are for the sheeple and bad guys. Oh, and a proper 30.06 sign does not have to be posted at an entrance. It only most be posted in a conspicuous place where everyone can see it.

As long as you aren't carrying while sneaking in food and drink, texting, making calls etc. you should be OK. :biggrinjester:

Seriously, unless it is a 30.06 sign with 1" contrasting letters, in English and Spanish displayed prominently it has no force of law. You are OK to carry the sign has less value than the paper it's printed on.

correct, if it isn't a 30.06 sign/does not meet all the requirements of a 30.06 sign, then it is not a 30.06 sign and can't have the effect of a 30.06 sign

There's no requirement for the size of the overall sign itself, but the lettering must be in "block letters at least one inch in height."

But the letter-height requirement does dictate, effectively, a minimum sign size. Since 72 points equals one inch, the typeface must be at least 72 points, and squishing the line spacing about as far as it can go and still be legible would give you a line height of 65 points. At those settings, and using a compressed font like Arial Narrow, the smallest standard sized paper that could accommodate the required English and Spanish text would be a B3, or 13.9" x 19.7". You'd need an A2 to make it more legible and cleaner, or 16.5" x 23.4". Nuthin' in the statutes about that; it's just my personal experience having done some page layout stuff in the past.

And DPS has stated that they will enforce a sign that they consider to be a "reasonable attempt."

How did you get the AG decision?

I could see the "reasonable attempt" bit as a sign where a couple of letters had fallen off or the like. Not one with outdated wording or one that fails to meet size requirements.

I'll say "IT DEPENDS.".

There are some places that are statutorily off limits that might, as a courtesy, post a sign prohibiting guns. Even if itdoesnt meet 30.06 standards, a school with a sign like that is off limits until we have enough Texas legislators who are pro gun. COE lakes, buildings in National Parks, etc are a similar situation until a majority of Federal legislators support the United States Constitution instead of being domestic enemies of same.

Ya can't scrape it clean, ever, can you?

Ergo the old adage: "Never argue with a man who buys ink by the gallon."

I called Austin and talked to Greg Abbot and I paid a visit to my County DA office and was told the same thing by both. If you get outed and you quietly leave as requested the LEO's will not get involved . :txflag:

Wished you'd gotten that in writing.
