What is going on lately?

Since the movie theater shooting there has been, what, 3-5 other guys arrested for making similar threats and several weapons were found at their homes or in their car. All of a sudden several crazy nut jobs have surfaced right before that UN thing and a major push by the left for more gun control.

Something is very VERY weird about all this happening at this time. I'm all out of tin foil or I might fashion myself a hat. :headscratch

I contend that it isn't weird at all. There is always a very small percentage of people with "issues". Sometimes, they all just go off at once but mostly they trigger off of some event that happened. The "copycats" are trying for their 15 minutes of fame while those with real problems seem to loose the inhibitions that have stopped them up until the time that they see reports about someone else.

This isn't new. Hamlet is spurred to take revenge when he sees First Player weep as he tells the story of Queen Hecuba's murdered husband. Shakespeare obviously understood how it works and he didn't even have the MSM to play the event 24/7.

It's partly just copycats, and partly just the media looking for these kinds of stories.

Case in point....cannibalism. It has been happening all along, for hundreds, even thousands of years. Even now, in modern times. Then, one guy goes kattywaumpus in broad daylight and eats the face off a bum in Florida, and it gets caught on camera. Now, all the news outlets are hunting for and publishing cannibal stories because it captures viewer interest, and they get more page views and can charge more for advertising, etc. But there's nothing new about them. Isolated acts of cannibalism have been happening all along, it's just that most people weren't aware of it.

It makes you wonder. Could the shooting in Aurora have been planned to happen right before Clinton/Obama signs the U.N. Small arms bill? It does seem to have at a rather convenient time, just like the BP oil spill.

For whom was the BP oil spill convenient?

The Obamanation's plan to transform the nation. To make a point about how dangerous oil is. Why else would they also reject the pipeline from Canada? To push their green agenda and bankrupt the country!

You're right C-dub, something weird is going on. Shakespeare is in on it too! He must have been a liberal Democrat.

The something "weird" going on isn't the events themselves, but the way they are "packaged" by the mass media. Like TAM said with the cannibalism thing, there are ALWAYS messed up things like this going on...but once the media PERCEIVES a public interest, and an ANGLE that they can use to further their agenda, they will do their best to search these things out. There were mass murders long before the left got a penchant for pushing gun control...but if it made the national headlines, people were shocked for a day or two, they said "glad that wasn't here" and that was that...not anymore...its about a NARRATIVE. What is going on is this upcoming election, and the so-called "free press" getting into high gear to sway public opinion in any fashion possible to vote for THEIR "Community-Organizer-in-Chief" and those in his party. I think the Founding Fathers would be dismayed and sickened by the press today...nothing more than a propaganda machine for the Democrat Party...or a reaction and push-back against that.

Your analysis makes a lot of sense. :thumbs2:

from what I heard on the BP oil spill, Hillray was busy at the UN over this gun treaty. I did find it rather strange that the ended up stoping the leak in the same way they said would not work in the begining
