Anyone here with experience with Fobus holsters. Friend showed me one today, first one I had ever seen. I'm partial to leather but it was really talked up. I don't see much mention of them here, so maybe there is a good reason. This one was a paddle holster.

Yes sir there is a good reason. I will never pretend to speak for the rest of the folks on the board but here is my oppinion.
When I first started CC, I bought 2 Fobus holsters at the same time. They came in the same package & I got 2 for the price of one.
They were my 1st Fobus & my last Fobus. I have had it for sale several times w/ other stuff. This past week I finally sold it to the 1st offer I had. Took $15.00 for it shipped.
I understand they do have a few that are pretty good for competition.

So...are you saying I shouldn't get a Jennings 9mm and stuff it in a Fobus holster for my daughter?

Tell us about it. What's the story with the Jennings... Sheesh If I had to rely on the gun rags, all hand guns are wonderful.

Personal experience w/ Jennings. When I was in college I worked in the sporting Goods dept of the Howards Discount store in Marshal. We sold them & w/ out a hesitation we got every other one back.
The .25 was the worst.
I hated it when they would run them for $59.97.

I have no problems with my Fobus paddle. It's a tight fit on my P97, and gives good passive retention. The moment you overcome that passive tension with a sharp straight jerk, you're clear for a fast draw.

On the other hand, the one I bought for a Makarov is very loose. I wouldn't trust it to retain the pistol during a hasty "tactical relocation".

I own one, but I would never carry it. Mine has a different feel everytime I reach for the gun....There are good holsters that don't cost much more. I am glad they work for some people....and I guess some military units throughout the world.

I have a fobus paddle I use for IDPA. For everyday carry I use an Aikens OWB leather holster from http://www.shado.com

I own a fobus and a galco paddle holster and the galco is much better the retention can be adjusted to suit your needs and comfort.

I tried a Fobus paddle when I bought my G34-- Poor fit for the pistol even though it was the "correct" model. It moved too much on my waist as well.

However, I do have a double mag paddle that I use in IDPA shoots. Its "ok". The mags seem to stick a bit if I push them in too far. I have to remember to place them in with a bit less force. I'll get around to getting a different one -one of these days.

I'd suggest a kydex or leather that is designed specifically for your pistol.

I have a fobus paddle OWB holster I use for everyday carry for my Glock 23 40cal. I do not kow what is going on with it, but it is starting to make noise with every step I make. It makes me think that, when I walk by someone they wonder what I have on my hip. PDA's and phones do not make noise like that. Other than that the holster holds my G23 very well, I can have it on for long trips and it does not move very much. It fits me well and covers the trigger. I am looking for a new one, if anyone (GLOCK CC's) has some Idea's please let me know.
