You are kidding, right?
Show an American winning Gold and at least tying an Olympic record (Medaling in an event in 5 consecutive Olympics)
That's not at all interesting to the tv viewing audience, let's show endless analyses of the Chinese acrobats falling off the beam or stepping out of bounds instead.
You'll be lucky to read about it buried in the back of the sports pages.

Show a "gun sport"?

To glorify guns in this age would be inhumane.

Especially one of those assault shotguns like James Holmes used to kill all the people at in Aurora.
Hell they won't even show the Air Rifle events on tv.
Go Team USA

NBC has a schedule of events on their website. They had the air rifle finals at 6:10AM our time on the schedule indicating "live" . Men's Skeet Finals tomorrow at 8:00AM. I don't know if the schedule is for TV or streaming, but I bet it's streaming. Men's Skeet qualifications ongoing with Americans Vincent Hancock Ist w/74 sxore after 3 rounds and Frank Thompson 8th w/ 71.
Edit:07-31-2012

My question is with all of the gun laws other countries have, how are they able to own a shotgun to practice with?
