The above link is to a news story and a police dashcam video out of Fortville, Indiana.
Fortville is a town of about 4,000 folks on the NE side of Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Fortville LEO pulls over a late model white Volvo for a broken tail light. The suspect
drives away, then pulls over, gets out, and fires 12 rounds from a semi-automatic pistol.
He hits the LEO 4 times. His vest saved him, but a ricochet also hit him in the head, which did not kill him.

The BG was surrounded by police officers, shot it out with them, and was killed by an IMPD (Indianapolis Metro?)
officer.

The MSM does it again

"...he got out of his car and started shooting at officers with a high-powered automatic weapon." :banghead:

Kinda ironic he shot officer Fox, then was shot by officers on Fox Road. Glad the officer is OK and the BG is gone.

Did the PD LEO used their full auto assault rifles?

By the way, although I could not find any ID for the pistol the BG used in the above 2 links,
I might make an assumption here that it was some brand of .40 since it seems
.40's usually have about 12 rounds.

Anyone see a weapon ID?

no, and I found no weapon ID of the "fully automatic assault rifle" mentioned about a prior incident in the story after going to that story
The shooting comes little more than a day after a 59-year-old New Castle man armed with a fully automatic assault rifle and ...

which just says
As such, Blomquist said, the shooting incident should be seen as an alarming indictment on Indiana's lax gun laws. Police said he'd opened fire on officers with an assault rifle.
ok ..

Pendleton shooting gun altered to automatic weapon
The video is worth watching

An AK-47 semi automatic assault rifle: high powered, intimidating and sold at most gun stores across Indiana.

Gun experts say the weapon police found near the body of Kenneth James Bailey after he opened fire in Pendleton, killing a bystander and injuring two other police officers, is identical to a standard AK-47.

But police say it was altered, making it fully automatic - basically a machine gun.
Probably should have painted it to be less intimidating ... wonder if he paid his tax or if he was a criminal,

I know it's the norm to speak well of the deceased in his/her obituary, but this BG's obit is a jaw dropper.

It did not seem like the officer was able to return fire or did I miss something? Perhaps being shot prevented him returning fire but it seems like that would be the only way to slow the killer down and get him to retreat. I give officers the utmost respect knowing that they can possibly face this scenario on any given work day.

If the dashcam clip was truly representative of the timeframe in this incident,
when the BG stopped his Volvo the 2nd time, he jumped out of the driver's
seat and immediately started shooting.

Officer Fox was probably about to radio in the tag, or somehow take a few seconds to
get out of his cruiser. IMHO, he didn't expect to have a mad dog try to murder him over
a broken tail light.

******************************************************************************************************************************

Regarding the obituary -
Yes, he was a great guy to his family..... but he had this murderous streak that was kind of a character flaw.

My G22 came with 10 round mags because I bought it before the ban expired. Normal capacity mags are 15 rounds. I don't know about other off brands. :biggrinjester:

Using the accelerator with vigor and cutting the wheel toward the suspect would have been the most viable defense I can think of against this attack. Second best would have been to accelerate hard in reverse. Either way, moving car beats suspect on foot.

These are tactics that won't be thought of for the first time on the fly - but they might be useful in one's file of "what if" plans.

:iagree:
He should have punched it as soon as he saw the pistol. Problem solved, crisis averted.

I saw a video of a guy that used an AR (I think) against cops, took off in his car and when he stopped in the middle of the road to do it again, squad car vs. thug - car wins, DRT.
