We believe thousands of our members and friends will show their support for Chick-fil-A by dining at Chick-fil-A restaurants tomorrow and throughout the month of August,” said Tea Party Association President, Teri Adams.
In my mind this is not a gay/anti gay issue, this is an issue of upholding the 1st Amendment. I went to my local Chick-Fil-A today and the line was out the doors. The Drive Thru line was so long it went from the front of the shopping center, out to the front, and then out into the feeder road. Literally 100's of cars.
It seems like a little thing, but I really took heart in the fact that conservatives came out in force.

I agree 100%.
For me, it was a first amendment issue, since Rahm and the Mayor of Boston said Mr. Cathy should say that (or believe it more likely!)
I don't follow Chicago or Boston way of thinking, I am a FREE THINKING TEXAN, AMERICAN, and will hope we can ALL be that way.

I am a small govt libertarian and not particularly religious, so the gay marriage issue is something that bothers me less than it does many others here. But I can well understand the reasons people don't like the concept, and I'm not here to argue that one either way.
What absolutely BURNS ME UP is that Rahm Emanuel can announce 2 things in the same week:
1) Chick Fil A isn't welcome in Chicago because of their CEO's stance on marriage. Never mind the fact that CFA doesn't discriminate in either serving or hiring, apparently just being opposed to a "liberal" view is enough to get you censored.
2) In the same week, he announced that Chicago is going to ask the NBPP to patrol the streets of Chicago to help make things safer.
Since he has to understand muslims and blacks both traditionally have very negative views of homosexuality, this is flat out in your face hypocrisy. If you're a white Christian, you are not allowed to oppose gay marriage, but if you're black or muslim its no problem at all.
This type of two faced, taking advantage of dividing Americans into little groups to set against each other, outright hypocrisy is so sickening to me.

Houston:
"American is a free country," said Frank Edwards, who ate a chicken sandwich for lunch. "You can say what you think within reason and it's okay to disagree.

Chicago:
“It’s like I’m in line to vote,” said Richard David, 71, while waiting at the downtown eatery. “I’m voting for free speech.”

etc, etc, etc.
Countdown to hate speech from the left...."Oh you eat at Chick-Fil-A, you my friend are a bigoted homophobe."
This is pretty far fetched but how cool would it be if this were to go down in history as the moment the overwhelming Conservative base in the US finally stood up and said "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!"
I would love nothing more than to have my grandkid on my near 30 years from now and say "Well Son, it all started with a Chicken Sandwich...."

Liberals are such tolerant, peaceful people.

Oh Yeah.....here is an interesting video showing how people behave in the face of such controversy here in Texas, versus the liberal "tolerance" of New York. A good part of the difference is just manners, but another part, aside from liberal hypocrisy, is that liberalism teaches people that they should never take any responsibility for themselves. Sorta surprised though to see Texans portrayed in a positive light on ABC.

I'm usually in the mood for chicken on Sunday but they're closed.

We went to Chick-fil-a for dinner tonight. Here are a few of observations.
1. When we arrived, we were at the back of a line of at least 75 people. By the time we got to the counter, the line behind us was even longer that where we started.
2. Of those who came in and saw the line, only one person turned around and left.
3. Everyone had a smile on their face. The building was very warm with all of the extra people and there wasn't room to move up and down any isle. There wasn't any signs of agitation, customers or employees. Everyone there apparently wanted to be there.
4. Considering the size of the crowd, the service was excellent. The staff was pumping the food out as quickly as they could. Our food was the usual high quality.
I talked with the manager who waited on us. She normally has 8 employees in for breakfast and today she had 18. The staff couldn't keep up with the customer flow then and she said that it had been non-stop just like that all day. We passed another store and it was as busy as the one that we had eaten in - at 8pm! Second hand reports indicated that two of the other local stores had the same results.
Those who object to what happened can call it whatever they wish. The customers that we spoke with all had a consistent message. This is about free speech, the 1st Amendment and the intolerance for government trying to control business based on the belief systems of the politicians. We participated in the Starbucks appreciation in response to a planned boycott there earlier this year. That was the same but it was over the 2nd Amendment. Trying to label us as bigots for supporting the Constitution appears to be a no-win strategy. Those responsible for the labels just haven't figured that out yet.
