Has anyone ever seen this statement or heard of this. This is my first time of ever hearing anything like this.

Pocket holsters come in many styles and many designs - there are even pocket holstyers that allow you to fire the gun while holstered - Most people do not know those are Illegal and it is a felony to carry one - anywhere. That law is Federal.

Supposedly there has been debate on the "wallet holsters" for guns like the LCP being NFA. That might be what they are referring to.

I have heard about this for holsters that don't look like holsters. I will try to find the link.

It appears to apply to guns that don't look like guns because of the holster. IANAL.

It's seems ironic to me that you have to get a license to conceal a firearm, but if you conceal it too well, then it's a crime.

It's to protect the robber.
So that when you are handing him your wallet, he gets a wallet instead of the bullet from a wallet holster that he should have got anyway.

I'm just surprised MaoBama didn't think of this himself! It's along the lines of the things he does and spouts them as accomplishments....."for the children"........oops......for the robbers!

Edit: Also cane guns, knife guns and pen guns are "AOW".

Interesting that the definition does not specifically mention these types of devices; 1st line is kind of a catch-all.

I can see the rational for the restrictions. How many times have LEOs shot people for reaching for their wallet? When this happens, sometimes people are outraged and demand that the LEO be fired and arrested and charged with murder.

If the derringer is concealed in a wallet, and the LEO asks for ID, the BG can pull out his wallet and shoot the LEO before he realizes the BG has a weapon.

I think that the holsters and canes would more likely be used as a defensive weapon against a BG than vice versa.

The ATF calling them AOW is a bit of a stretch.

I think I remember the wallet gun being "outlawed" by Slick Willie and Co.

Several months back, I found this at Sportsman's Guide:

I had been told that if the pistol could be fired without removing from the holster, that it was an AOW.

I wrote the ATF and SPG about this holster. Neither bothered to answer.

The only difference I see is in the ATF illustration, the complete firearm is contained, while the slide of the LCP is not contained.

I have since seen other listings of this type holster.
