Arkansas authorities on Tuesday released a chilling dash-cam video showing the moment a young cop was gunned down by a pistol-toting thug during a routine traffic stop last year.

Trumann police officer Jonathan Schmidt can be heard begging for his life after getting blasted point- blank by gunman Jerry Lard, who was riding in the backseat of the car that Schmidt and his partner stopped in April 2011.

Lard, 38, sprung from the car after shooting Schmidt and began swearing and taunting the wounded cop and Officer Corey Overstreet as they scrambled for cover.

"What you got?" Lard screams, according to the video.

Later, Schmidt can be heard saying, "Please don't shoot me. Please don't shoot me again."

I could kill that piece of garbage and go eat dinner ten minutes later! I know this happened in 2011 but stuff like that turns my stomach! A person willing to shoot a cop would think nothing of murdering the typical civilian.

After the sentence was read, the scumbag should've been brought out to the public square and hung.

The only video I have ever watched that was as.. sickening as this one was during SERE training. I was shown a video of a reporter who was kidnapped by al Qaeda, then recorded as they beheaded him with a knife. This really hits a nerve.

cops being shot always is hard to watch. The hardest one I have seen is Kyle Dinkheller's dashcam training video. Fear took over and he forgot his training. hard to watch.

That one was extremely difficult to watch. Sadly his death has taught an eye opening lesson to many.

Am i correct in that there were 3 officers there?

1 shot in the face, and the other two scrambling for cover?

This is a good video showing how the fear one experiences to try to protect oneself can throw everything you learn out the window.

The only person with a grasp of his emotions was the idiot doing the shooting and walking casually around looking for the cops. :(
