I'm pretty certain that this guilty pleasure will claim $12 of my hard-earned money.

I'm also fairly certain that I will cringe many times during the movie for:
-extraneous clicking sounds when weapons brought to bear
-actors gesturing with their firearms during conversation
-weapons being charged just moments before they will be needed
-extended full-auto hip firing

I will be renting this on Blu Ray to be sure. When they showed the black out at first I thought they'd make the plot similar to One Second After. Not quite that way but maybe close.

I don't pay more than $6.50 for any new movie, I just go to the matinees (before 6pm start time)
if I had to pay $12 for every movie, I wouldn't go and would just buy them all on Itunes soon when available for $15

North Koreans.
Bwahhahaa! Really?

This film has been in the tank for last 2 years, thanks to the company going bankrupt.
I'm sure they are invading because of some horrible Eco-Violation of the US. Not paying enough Carbon Credits or some such nonsense.

They were supposed to be Chinese at first, but after we took out a little loan from them they objected. I think they went back and digitally changed some insignia's and stuff to be NK.

I think I'm out on this one. I haven't seen the Footloose remake or True Grit either, although I hear the later is pretty good and closer to the book. I'll probably end up seeing that one, but not until it's on television.

BIG shoes to fill when you do a remake of a good original that has a cult following

I'm in. Looks like they tried to make it as original as a remake can be.

I want to know where all the old angry guys are, particularly those of us who, taking lessons from the original, have prepared for the eventuality.

I'm wondering why Hollywood can't come up with anything original anymore...

It's been remake after remake...

These days, with attention spans dropping off the charts and everyone looking to be entertained 24/7, the entertainment industry is turning our an ever-increasing amount of "product" hoping to gain/keep sufficient market share to be relevant and continue to earn livings. The sad part is that though the demand for entertainment seems greater than ever, the amount or real creativity seems to have stagnated or even fallen off. It's all about quantity -- too often at the expense of quality -- these days.

Not all remakes fail when compared to the original, though.

They should have called it "Blue Dawn" and changed the Cuban & Russian "reds" to UN coalition troops in blue helmets, brought in by Obama to pacify the constitutionalists after he gets rid of the PCA.

I was surprised Hollywood made the first one. Am more surprised they made this one. Hope it lives up to the philosophy of the first one. If so, it will be a huge hit totally ignored by all the awards.
