Rather a small gun show at Reliant yesterday and today. I guess I need to read more carefully when I see the ad for one posted. Not a bad show, just small and hard to justify $10.00 for parking and $8.00 for the ticket. Add in $4.00 for a bottle of water and I blew my whole allowance.....
Discussion with a CHL instructor at one of the tables did bring up a very interesting point. Those folks who have more than one license (more than one state) frequently do what I do. That is carry ALL of them in same wallet. Instructors point was that if the wallet is lost or stolen you have no longer a right to carry until you get the plastic replaced. More better (he says, and I think I agree) carry only the Texas license on you. Leave the others at home or secreted in the car with second weapon so that you are covered until you can get the situation straightened out. I might add that it follows that a copy of your drivers license stashed away might prove useful under the same circumstances, until you can get to the DPS.

In my experience, yes. Every show I have been to was posted.

I don't go to anti gun shows.

Have to go the High Caliber at Pasadena Convention Center.
No parking cost, just the $8 admittance fee.

Given the fact that this one was about the same size as the one in Missouri City last month which had no parking fee, I expect I will go to Reliant ONLY for the HGAC shows in the future.

I also have good photos of my four concealed handgun licenses and my driver's license on my phone. By "good", I mean one can easily read all the numbers.

If the gun show is posted, but in a municipal (city owned) hall, you can ignore it right?

Ding, Ding, Ding, that is the $64,000 question.

Pasadena and GRB, for example, have Houston or Pasadena Police as well as at times various constables checking guns and asking if you are carrying.
I suppose since it is a cop asking if you are carrying, and you say "no" but really are, would you then be in trouble with the law for lying to a cop?

As far as the legality of it, well, I don't have the money, time or want to be a test case, even though I believe anyone arrested for 30.06 violation would be found not guilty or possibly even no-billed.

This is why I believe the next legislature needs to define what cannot be posted 30.06, in reference to gov't owned facilities, even when they are being leased to other entities.

The legislature has already defined it. It's just that others (government and/or those who lease the government owned property) feel free to ignore the law. Until and unless they have their noses rubbed in it via one or more lawsuits, that won't change.

then again, there needs to be a test case to prove it out.

I'll save my money for guns instead of lawyers. Unless someone wants to defend me pro bono?

There should be nothing to fear from good cops. However, a grossly incompetent cop might mistakenly arrest someone who isn't breaking the law. A dirty cop might do it intentionally.
