:biggrinjester: Ok, so maybe not prison, but CA in any case, and Fort Irwin is close to prison.

3 days away from home for a 3 hour inspection/ briefing ......
Have never flown into ONT.. so that'll be new as well.
Get to see how CA airports like weapons on the return flight... 1ST time I have been though a CA airport in years.

Even went out and bought two new short capacity magazines so as to appease the CA 10 round rule..

Flying AA, which has been a non event last few times.. we will see what it turns into this time.
If I dont post an update in the next 72 hours..... it's cuz I have not made bail yet.

Why did you need the mags?

The weapon feeds better than just leaving the rounds in my pocket :biggrinjester:

:smilelol5: I don't, in reality..
As my mags would be legal under CA law.. BUT, it would likely be up to ME to prove so.

A small thing to just have (possess) just 10 rounder’s for the trip, and not have to potentially justify (explain) why my high capacity mags are not being sold, transferred, possessed in the republic of Kalifornia

Okay. Did you get them before going to CA? You couldn't carry while there, right?

It sounded like you bought them just to fly back with, but if flying with a gun I didn't think having a mag was also required. I'm definitely missing something.

On my phone and can't quote easily.

If you're in CA and have normal capacity mags, how do you not possess them?

???? :coolgleamA:

Uaaaa, no idea how it came across that way :headscratch Sorry about that, let me try again.

Im in Texas.... Im going to CA for a short visit.. CA has laws about "high capacity mags" I had one 10 rounder, I bought 2 more for my trip. I will leave my ultra dangerous black high capacity magazines at home in Texas

And no, I cannot carry while there, nor carry loaded in the car. Nor store loaded in my lodging as Im being housed in the DVQ lodging on post.
Never the less, I will take one or more guns with me in the event I get a chance to hit a range (something i try and do everyplace I travel to) or if Zombies attack.

What are you taking with you? Rifle, handgun, both?

Makes sense.

California is a beautiful place to visit. Great scenery, and a good reminder of why Texas has it pretty good in the "laws, regulations and taxes" department.

Have a safe trip. :tiphat:

Yeah, I wasn't getting it right. Makes sense now. Except for the part about the mags you already have being legal, but you didn't want to risk trying to explain to them you weren't in possession of them. :headscratch

Beware California's "assault weapons" laws if you bring a rifle. You'll be safe it is a bolt rifle, but given what they're going through right now, I wouldn't trifle with an AR15 for love or money, if the trip is only 3 days.

As a traveler, I could argue...that im just an out of state dude traveling though the state.......

I would need to research the laws better..,, but as a non resident, not sure if crossing the CA state border instantly makes a person a criminal when they were legal mere feet before.
I decided it was not worth the effort or risk....

This would be a bolt rifle trip, not a scary black rifle that shoots unlimited large sized missiles automatically from it noise suppressed short barrel. :evil2:

Back on the puter. I haven't read their laws, but would bet that in this case it makes no distinction between subject or visitor. Good decision on your part.
