NOAA - the weather service purchased a bunch too.

Didn't know there were weather cops.

Might not be a bad idea to write our congressmen and try to get some answers.

My congressman is Ted Poe

DHS has purchased about a half million rounds of 5.56 this year. We can speculate, but nobody really knows if it is just bulk buys for training and or issue, or is it preparation for "social work." I like to think it is the former rather than the latter, but I'm making my own buys and keeping my powder dry.

But unless the dems overtly steel the election and enforce martial law (good luck with that one), Obama is going to get beaten like a red-headed stepchild at a family gathering on November 6th.

Contacted Congresswoman Granger via email. Explained what I was inquiring about, and that it wouldn't have bothered me except what does the NWS need a lot of ammo for? THAT ONE makes no sense and that is why I said I was writing. I'll post what reply I get, if I get one.

Guess I better start getting some more ammo. This is as good of an excuse as any ;-)

A few weeks ago we were out at a family cabin and, out of nowhere, my wife said, "I don't think we have enough ammo at home. Shouldn't we have more than we do?" It was a proud moment for me. . . this is the girl who cried the first time she was around a gun being shot (out in the country - it was my LEO BIL's .40 about 9 years ago). . . she grew up in an anti house and had no experience around firearms. Since then, she's gotten her CHL, carries daily, recently moved to carrying on-person, has gone through a renewal, can out-shoot me. . . and now - NOW - she wants us to stockpile some ammo.

Thanks for reminding me.

DHS has also purchased 1.5 million rounds of .40 caliber.

Depending on the amount of tin foil you're wearing (Shamelessly stolen from another poster on another site)

1) the fiscal year is coming to a close (use it or lose it)
2) Recent high profile shootings has agencies worried about public safety, so more ammo for training.
3) Recent high profile scandals has agencies worried about agent safety, so more ammo for training.
4) Stir up panic buying.
5) FEMA camps.

Pick your poison.

Even number 1 makes me mad. No wonder we have an out of control govt spending issue. "Oh no! Its almost the end of the fiscal year! Quick, spend all the money!" :???:

My wife recently asked me to start building up a stock of ammo for our guns too. Nice to hear that mine's not the only ex-anti who has woken up.

This reminded me of a weird run I had when I was driving truck. I picked up a load in NY (Syracuse I think it was) going out to LA. There was no rush on it so a solo was perfect. I was amazed at 1) how quickly they loaded me (took all of 5 minutes after I bumped the dock), 2) how light the load was (didn't even register when I weighed at a scale), and 3) that they closed and sealed my doors while still in the dock (very puzzling on that one). I drove it out to LA, bumped the dock at the receiver's (same company, different office), and took my bills inside. They signed my bills and told me to take it back to the shipper. So I ran it back to NY where, when they opened my trailer, they pulled out an envelope and signed my bills as delivered. When I asked what the heck it was, I was told it was just an empty envelope but that they had to use up their transportation budget for the year, otherwise they'd get it cut for next year and they might need it. :banghead:

6) The Mayans who went away on the space mother ship will be returning according to their calendar; they might be ticked off and have space weapons now ... and put us in the aforementioned Obama FEMA camps
"rlol"
Family Dollar had foil on sale cheap ... :biggrinjester:

That would be number 6. I already had a number 5. :rules:

I saw this ammo buying by some weird govt agency earlier and thought, "I don't want them to question me when I buy ammo, so why should I question them. "

However tonight on the Savage radio program (Baseball tonight so Michael Berry is preempted) a very interesting well spoken caller mentioned this and said that he felt the government was stocking up in preparation for civil unrest after Israel attacks Iran before our election in November.

Well I sort of thought about it and it did not sound too tinfoil to me. His view was that Muslim extremists would use this as a chance to Jihad against federal buildings throughout the US. Well that was a little tinfoil, but not that much of a stretch.

If the US govt intel showed that it was going to happen and before the election would be the ideal time. They might suspect something like this might happen and start stocking up.

Not to start a run on ammunition, but if the Social Security Administration feels it needs 175,000 rounds of hollow point, maybe my 200 rounds of 9mm FMG is a little light.

But ya all please wait till I have mine OK.

I went from foil to sheet metal hats a few years ago. Who at the social security admin carries a gun. Do they have their own cops, or security?
