I am looking for an outdoor range in S. Ft Worth (I live in the I20/Hulen area)... I don't mind a little of a drive but driving an hour to a range is not my sort of thing.

This weekend I am going to On-Target but they are indoor, and I would like to get my sister comfortable holding a firearm and also protect herself if necessary... Indoor ranges are loud and can get smelly and she get all freaked out by the loud bangs indoors and I think an outdoor range would make her more comfortable.

The reason I like On-Target is because they allow FMJ ammo, and hopefully the Outdoor range does as well.

Any suggestions?

Alpine Shooting Range is south of I-20 between I-35 and Hwy 287.

I second Alpine. They are close to you. We recently took a CHL class there for qualification, and it went well.

Well, other than being 106 that day, but that's what you put up with when you shoot outdoors.

It's also what you put up with when you shoot indoors, some places. But they are pretty good at supplying shade!

When I was in DFW I went to Alpine often it is a good range and it is one of the few that offers storage at a reasonable price

I went to Alpine this weekend in the morning. While its not the most modern range I am digging it. Will be coming here from now on as it's close to where I live.
