Hey Fellas,

One of my professors invited me to speak on the Militarization of the United States Mexico Border at a symposium he is hosting at Angelo State University on August 23. I have been researching the causes and effects of militarizing our border with Mexico for about two years now, and intend to use this as my thesis during grad school.

Anyway, I'd like to get some of your input on this, if you have any. I know this is a bit abstract and broad in content, but I'm not looking for anything in particular. I'm more interested in the effects of militarization, especially if you have been directly affected.

What I'd like to hear from y'all:

-Effects of Militarization on you
-Has Militarization Made Border Safer
-Legislation concerning the Militarization of Border
-Recommendations?

Here is the link to the school's website, with specifics on the symposium-

Also to be examined is current transnational organized crime associated with the drug trade at the U.S.-Mexico border and its corrosive effect on the rule of law, which prevents governments from reducing or containing other transnational hazards, including:

Terrorism
Insurgency
Organized criminal gang activity
Weapons trafficking
Money laundering
Human trafficking

Relevance
The topic of this conference is important and timely, considering:

The extreme drug-related violence in the United States-Mexico border region
The threat of narco-terror and the influence of Iran’s violent extremist organizations in Latin America
The proliferation of drug cartel activity fueling transnational crime in Mexico and throughout Central America
I'll PM you to ask for permission to quote.
