Anyone in the South Central TX area a gear head?

I'm woefully lacking any basic skills on the art of motors. I couldn't point out a carb from an alternator (not really, but you get it).

I looked at the local community college and there's nada for classes. I'm looking for someone to give me a crash course (pardon the pun) on motors. I'm happy to bring my ATV and/or lawnmower and am happy to pay for your time. I would like to be able to handle the simple tasks like oil changes, alternator swaps, carb cleaning, etc. Nothing major.

If anyone has any other resources, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

ETA: I'm willing to go as far North as Marble Falls / Llano / Austin area, and as far south as Corpus.

:tiphat:

You're located in Bulverde? San Antonio is about 25 miles south, and they have two Hackerspaces.

http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/San_Antoni ... Makerspace" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.sahackerspace.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
- and -
http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/10BitWorks" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.10bitworks.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you contact them, I'm sure they would have someone who would love to teach you in exchange for a donation.
