I joined the IDPA yesterday, so I'm waiting on my paperwork from them.

I'm wanting to know when upcoming classifiers are and where they are being held.

Thanks in advance.

PSC is giving this Saturday but I think all slots taken.

Thunder has one scheduled for last Saturday of March.

I would suggest shooting a few matches before classifier.

We had a cancellation on the Classifier, so we have one slot left. If you want it, send me an email at Charles@TexasShooting.com.

Thanks Charles. Unfortunately I will not be able to make it this weekend.

Lumberjack, I'm thinking of joining IDPA (not sure what club in Houston to join), can you tell me how I go about signing up or can anyone briefly describe the process. Thanks in advance.

Wes

Wes: Go for it! You don't have to join the IDPA through a club, or even specify a club affiliation when you join. You can find a "home" club later, or shoot with multiple clubs.

The IDPA Home page is http://www.idpa.com/. The application form--you'll need Acrobat Reader for it--is at http://www.idpa.com/Documents/appwinfo.pdf.

You'll need to print the application, fill it in and sign it, and mail it in along with your dues payment ($35 one year, $90 three years). You'll also need one other person to witness the waiver and sign it with you.

That's it! You're done!

Clubs will let you shoot one IDPA match without being a member, so you can mail in your application and go shoot the next weekend while you wait for your membership packet in the mail.

Cool, thanks for the info Skiprr. I'm going to sign up and start looking for a classifier to attend.

If it doesn't rain (chanes are up to 50% now, but hopefully only north of town), The Pearland Sportsman Club has its monthly IDPA match this Saturday: http://www.cottonfamily.com/psc-idpa/index.htm.

Sign-up starts at 9:00, match at 10:00; there is a brief New Shooters Orientation if you haven't shot there before, so you'll want to be there by 9:00. There will be a number of Forum members shooting, so come on out if you can!

Skiprr.........I would love to come out there to shoot but I normally shoot with the Texas XD Group on the 4th weekend at Impact Zone. One of these months I will change it up and make it out to PSC.

Well, then you've got West Houston IDPA shooting the first Saturday of the month at the Impact Zone: http://www.whidpa.com/. They have a weekly "fun match" each Wednesday evening, too.

Thanks again Skiprr, given my locale WHIDPA will probably be my best option.
