Not Happy w/ Uncle Mike's Pocket Holster (Size 3)

I bought it online since I could not find one locally and not impressed with it... it never stays in the pocket but my biggest gripe is that the trigger does not completely covered... at least I only paid $12 for it I can use it for storing the gun in the range bag but see in the pics below its not covering the trigger up enough for my liking.

This is a Taurus 85 Sub in there. The holster does not print in my pocket at all, it looks very much like a large cell phone or small tablet in there but I want something that covered the trigger all the way. I have ordered now a DeSanti Holster "The Nemesis" http://www.desantisholster.com/store/SE ... -850-CIA-2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and I am hoping this will do the job much better.

The Desantis looks like you might can hook it on your pocket while drawing so you can draw better.
I bet you'll like it a lot better
The uncle Mikes looks a LOT like an eyeglasses case that was recycled

my biggest gripe is that the trigger is not completely covered... at least I only paid $12 for it I can use it for storing the gun

It doesn't cover the trigger; I'd either see if I have a different gun it actually fit, or sell it or give it away
the trigger is not completely covered.
Return it for a bigger size.
Take it to a gun show and trade it.
Put a fish in it and plant it near corn (don't keep unsafe equipment...the trigger is not completely covered)

Is that Item 1 in "The holster drawer"?
Over 40 something years, I had accumulated a drawer of holsters I did not like after trying, it grew to two drawers, then to a large suitcase, then to two suitcases and a briefcase ... I donated them to Students for Concealed Campus Carry to use on "Empty Holster Day" I think everyone has, or will eventually, buy a holster they don't like and won't use. Thanks for posting so I don't get Uncle Mike instead of Desantis for my Taurus, I rarely carry it, but do sometimes :thumbs2:

After reading numerous glowing reviews I bought a Mika's Pocket Holster and have never looked back. Robert Mika is a retired LA cop who went into the holster business after retirement.

I love mine, :anamatedbanana it stays in my pocket when I draw and the workmanship is first class. They are worth the money and Robert is a stand up guy. :thumbs2:

Yea I was looking at that one too, but since all of his are hand made the turn around time was a little too long for me, so I went with off the shelf solution... If the DeSantis does not work out I am ordering a custom one.

I pocket carry my glock 30/36 in a comptac kydex shell. Works really great. I can draw by keeping my thumb on the top protruding kydex.

You're going to like the DeSantis. I own a N38 series pocket Nemesis for my Tauraus 709 & 740 & PT140 to share and it's a great pocket holster, used primarily in winter in jacket, vest or overcoat - I don't care for pants pocket carry. It stays where put when drawing

Reviews on your model at Amazon and OpticsPlanet are top rate. One low review at Optics makes no sense cause mine is everthing he said his wasn't. ;-)

Hope you didn't buy it direct from DeSantis due to price (I own a bunch of DeSantis holsters and belts - bought elsewhere and like or love 'em all)

Then, there is always the Remora holster which also works as a pocket holster.

Best pocket holster made for a snubbie revolver (I've tried Desantis, Uncle Mikes, and a few custom molded leather pocket holsters and Mika's is hands down the best).

I bought it from Amazon not DeSantis directly.

It doesn't surprise me about the Uncle Mike's holster. I was looking at the pocket holsters a couple of weeks ago and found that their sizes are very generic and cover many manufacturers and models.

Size Item No. Fit Information

1 8744-1 Small autos (.22 - .25 cal.)

2 8744-2 Most .380s

3 8744-3 2" 5-shot revolvers; Sigma .380

4 8744-4 Most sub-compact 9mm/.40 autos

There are two other brands of pocket holsters that I have used that are acceptable, the "Nemesis" from DeSantis and Tuff Products "Jr. Roo." As good as those two are they pale compared to a Mika pocket holster. Skip the extra holsters in the holster box and go for the best. :coolgleamA:

So from what I am ready I might as well place an order for a Mika holster as well... after all one can never have too many holsters :)... they are like shoes for girls I guess lol.
