Today turned out to be a bad start to the Labor Day weekend for James Frye, 30.

First, the Indianapolis man was shot in the leg. Then he was arrested for alleged burglary.

If the man had not been breaking into someone’s home around 1:30 a.m. today, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report indicated, he would not have wound up in Wishard Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

EVERETT, Wash. —

An employee of a real estate office in Everett shot and wounded an intruder Thursday during a fight.

Police say the 76-year-old employee had called 911 and said he was holding a burglar at gunpoint. But before officers arrived the 30-year-old suspect started throwing office equipment at the employee who shot him in the leg.

The man was able to flee. A police dog found him hiding in a backyard in the same block.
