of being adamantly against having her own firearm, my wife sprang one on me yesterday. She wants to learn to shoot and get her own CHL.
Today we went to the local store/range and are checking into getting her into classes for both and checking out what type of pistol she wants. So far she is leaning toward the Ruger LC9 with a laser sight. We shall see.

Very nice, although, it makes one wonder. What was the turning point for her? Just curious.

Several home invasions in a radius of less than 3 miles, I work over 400 miles away, get home only monthly or bimonthly and a coworker of hers has been talking to her.
Also St. Patrick's day 2011 we had a daytime burglary when we were both away. It is not fun to be 135 miles from home and have your home telephone call you on your cell phone with the caller identifying himself as Sgt. XXX of OKC PD.

That is an unfortunate set of reasons. And I am happy for you that she has taken this step.
