Issues with CHLPP?

At my classes, I have the brochures for several of the concealed carry legals on my display table and am signed up as a rep for commissions. I don't push any of them, just there if folks look them over and are interested. I have had 2 folks that I know signed up for CHLPP using me on the forms (which already are filled out in my portion by me) and I have yet to be paid anything. I have both called and written and told they will send it "next month" since April. Has anyone else had this issue with them? It is making me wonder if there is this big an issue on something this simple, how I can I conscientiously even tell folks it is something available? Just trying to find if anyone else has been a rep for them and have they been paid or are we being somehow scammed?

This is what you should, if you haven't already, explain to someone higher than the one who answers the phone at CHLPP. The last person they should want to upset is someone bringing them customers.

The one I have been speaking with is the owner/lawyer!

I see their site is back up now. I guess I'll write him once again.

When something sounds like easy money it usually isn't. All proposals for that kind of stuff gets tossed.

There are numerous pre-paid legals that pay for the referrals. I know others who have no probs with it.

A lot of businesses pay a referral fee or bonus.

My first thought is if they can't handle the simplest detail like paying you for months on end, I would not trust them with the details that defend someone from going to jail for a long time. I came across a website for a lawyer the other day advertising he defends people from weapons violations. It clearly states it is against the law for a CHL to carry into a church or hospital and you have to be a resident of Texas for 6 months to get a license. Hmmm, yeah, I want this guy (who does not even know the current law) defending me. So much has been written about these services pro and con. Your approach to just make the literature available is still a form of "approval" in the eyes of a trusting student. You are hitting the nail on the head to seriously question whether you should even offer literature for an outfit you have already had poor experience with yourself.

I do know of a few situations where CHLPP has aided their members, so I know they and others like it do provide some level of service. Is it worth it? Is it redundant? I leave that up to students. This, however (as you mention) makes me wonder how good they would be at following up. I too have found a few lawyer website that incorrectly states gun laws. I will say that I myself have 2 different pre-paids simply because they overlap and it's apples and oranges. The various companies out there seem to cover different things in different ways. For me, the bottom line advantage is in simply being able to say "Contact my lawyer."

Do you have a contract? If so, enforce it.

I do and it states how and when to be paid. Other than calling and writing several times, suggestion short of a lawyer (which wouldn't be worth it). I will no longer lay their material out unless there is some real good explanation that i cannot think of. I was just wondering if anyone on here has had this problem and was it resolved.
