I am looking for an instructors course for basic handgun. I want to be certified as an NRA instructor before too long.

Any one know of any classes in the DFW area, or someone who offers that class?

Best TC I know of is Dan Graeber (http://www.trainersgroup.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) There are some others, and some I strongly discourage! I had a couple of bad TCs and was really upset when I finally had a class with Dan & discovered all the stuff that had been omitted from my previous training. He has worked with me to get up to speed & I have progressed further under his tuteledge. With him, you do not just "take a class"--he becomes a resorce for you in the future.

This very question is also being discussed here:

I think Dan would like to offer one before January, but isn't sure where he can fit it in. I got the impression he is trying, so I am still hoping for one before then.

I did not get a lot of positive feedback publicly or privately on anyone in the immediate DFW metro area other than Dan or Jan Heath. Mr. Heath has no current plans for a pistol instructor class. I am also looking and would consider travel to elsewhere if there were another TC that came highly recommended. I want a solid foundation class that helps me teach well.

That's great information to have, thanks! I'm looking to take a Basic Pistol Instructor Course as well - but I'm in Austin; I've no problem with traveling up to Dallas to get to Dan though.

Not to hi-jack the threat at all - but does anyone have any recommendations for an IC in Austin that is respectable as Dan?

Thanks, guys!

The course I was looking for is not on Dan"s schedule right now. The CSRO course is the next one that might apply to handguns. I don't know if that is what I want, but if he thinks it will be a good start, I will sign up for it.

I have gotten 9 or 10 new shooters started this year, and it is exciting to think of being able to help more folks, and to give them an "official" certificate when they finish.
