Getting worried...talk me down from the ledge

Alright, so I've read through many of these posts and I'm still getting worried. I'm hoping you guys can talk me down from the ledge.

I did my online app on 9/16, got fingerprinting done on 9/19 and send packet to DPS the same day. I sent Certified Mail and the receipt online with the USPS says it was received on 9/21. However, I keep checking the CHL website for an updated status of my app, and it says it's still waiting on my hard copies of the material.

So, is that normal? Will it not update for awhile? Did I mess something up? Help!

I think that's normal. The DPS received my packet on 8/20, but it was 9/5 (11 business days later, despite the holiday) before they admitted they received my packet. From reading this forum, it seems the norm is about two weeks from when they receive it until when they update the website.

Actually, in looking at my calendar, I wouldn't expect you'll see it updated until the second week of October. Maybe the 9th or so, since many people say they don't update on Fridays or Mondays.

Ark03 is absolutely right. I think you're looking at a minimum of 2 weeks before you can expect to see your status change on the website. I waited 3 weeks before my status changed to reflect that the DPS had received my packet. The waiting sucks but you don't have anything to worry about.

Their web site is slow to post anything so relax. in the meantime read up on the laws and rules of carrying so when it does come in you don't make a mistake to lose it

Thanks so much everyone! Very helpful. You've officially talked me down from the ledge and I've taken my seat again in the waiting room.

Love the forum!
:cheers2:

So let me ask, how many years were you eligible to start the CHL process before you actually decided to take this action?

It seems to take 2 or 3 weeks for the website to update. The good news is that also seems to be the longest step for most people these days.

Today will be exactly 2 weeks since DPS recieved my packet. I'm hoping that the site will update for me today, but for what I have seen around here anything between 14-21 days is normal.

Thanks! I found myself fidgeting more than usual to make sure my shirt didn't ride up (it hadn't). Going to take a day or two to get use to.
