Is there any reason why this office would post this sign?

It's the Precinct 4 Constable office at 330 Meadowfern Drive, Houston, TX 77067
This is what's in that office (per the county website):

Is it a secure law enforcement facility? Meaning, it's not open to the public but you have to be escorted during your visit. If so, the sign is valid. But, they are supposed to provide secure storage for your gun.
eta: From the list of what divisions are there I would say it's secure.

It's not secure. I walked in today to pick up some stolen property.

Any prisoners kept there?
I'd assume if so, they'd have a separate secured area, for temporary holding cell but ... dunno

If this is precinct 4 off Cypresswood drive it has a court room and I believe their is a holding cell area until they are transferred downtown in the building but I am not sure.
Edit: Looks like it is off Rankin. I don't know this one so I couldn't tell you.

I asked an officer there, "what's in this office that would prevent a CHL'er from carrying?" He gave me the "response" of "You can't carry in any police station, government building, or airport."
I just hung my head and walked away.

His statement isn't correct but it doesn't surprise me. Many officers don't even know some of the laws or the just say that so you won't come in.

You can't carry into a secured area of a police station. You can't carry into a court house. If the police station has a court house it is a no go. You can't carry into a secured area of an airport. Meaning as long as you are in ticketing and baggage claim your fine in an airport like IAH.
on the premises of any government court or offices utilized by
the court, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization
of the court;
in or into a secured area of an airport
Edit: The airport part is pretty simple at IAH. Don't go up the metal detectors. That is where it becomes secure.

A lot of the services listed on that sign are "court related" (warrants, writs, etc) ... not sure if this qualifies as
PC 46.03 PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED
(3) on the premises of any government court or offices utilized by the court, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the court;
But I'd be willing to bet someone there believes it does

Just a thought.
There are a lot of Constable Offices that share offices with the Justice of the Peace which has courtrooms.

There is no courthouse or court office in the building. I asked.

There is so much for those guys to learn and know. If it something they do not deal with everyday I do not expect anyone to be able to know everything.
