Question re CHL100

Did my renewal online, 9/20/12. Mailed (certified) CHL100, checklist and receipt of payment 10/1/12. USPS track and confirm indicates time I dropped envelope at post office and the envelope going to the sort facility in Austin, 10/1/12, with delivery indicated as 10/2/12 (I live about 40 miles from Austin). This morning (10/5/12) there is no indication of delivery to DPS.

I am hoping my envelope is in the hands of DPS but like I indicated above USPS does not reflect delivery. My question is, if for some reason it did not get there and I have to re-submit the above forms does anyone know if DPS will accept a copy of the CHL100 because that is all I got left. I have tried to call them the last two days to ask them about the CHL100 but after waiting 10-15 minutes I just hang up.

I guess all I can do now is wait a couple of weeks or so and see if my status changes from application received to background being conducted to know whether they got it or not.

DPS will not accept a copy. You will need to go back to your instructor & get another CHL100.
He has his copy so there should not be a problem. I had to do that once. Folks lost it though & not DPS.
I always recomend that my students use Certified mail.

That is correct, but remember that the on line lookup is only updated occasionally it seems, and it could easily be a couple weeks before it shows up as received. If the usps says it was delivered, you can take a deep breath and relax. I can't recall an instance here where they actually lost the paperwork after it was delivered. The weeks after you mail it though always seems to be an eternity though. Read the rules a few more times while waiting and post your questions here!!

Thanks LT.

gdanaher - that's the problem - the post office track and confirm indicates they have not delivered it to DPS although track and confirm reflects it was suppose to be delivered on 10/2/1.

What they told us in instructor training was that though some people like to send it certified return receipt, that their suggestion was not to send it that way. They said it slowed down the process as someone would have to go sign for it. I can't imagine that would slow it down, but that was the claim.

Sending online is the most effective and safe way these days:
https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/contact/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Submitting the CHL-100 online lets you keep the original if you have to send it again or want to use it for a VA or FL license also. :mrgreen:

I don't think it's a problem. My packet never did confirm on arrival either.
