Saturday night through Sunday morning, 2 are dead and 24 wounded in Chicago. This brings the total dead to 5 over the weekend (since Friday night).

15 of the victims are gang members.

These are higher casualty figures than Afghanistan.

There are so many thug-on-thug non-fatal assaults in Houston that they aren't news.

Chicago is listed as the third largest city in the the country while Houston is number 4. Populations and gun laws aside, Houston has a much longer "outdoor season" than ChiTown. With a little extra effort, the Bayou City should be able to overtake and surpass Chicago in murder by thug, and others, by year's end.

It's true that thugs slow down in bad weather. They don't hang around parks or street corners as much. However, plenty of thug activity goes on in bars, "clubs," apartment buildings, and other weather-neutral venues.

Also Chicago thugs are hardened to weather that probably would make a Houston thug catatonic.

You're probably right! I hate being catatonic. My old buddy, Silas Marner, didn't like it much either.
