A 31 year old Okie man menaced people (showing his gun) in the McDonald's drive thru line on FM3040 (Hebron Parkway),
opposite the Vista Ridge Mall.

An alert female McD's employee gave LPD full information on the man, his vehicle, and direction of travel.

LPD found him, but the suspect pointed his gun at the LPD officers, who responded with deadly force,
killing the suspect.

Texas Rangers are investigating. The number of shots fired was not disclosed.

The standard issue LPD sidearm is a .40 <H & K/USP?>. LPD LEO's are now allowed to use any model of semi-automatic
pistol they choose as long as they pay for it, and it must also be a .40.

This happened 10/24/2012, a Wednesday night. The above link is from Friday, 10/26/2012.
It was the first fatal shooting involving LPD in 10 years.

Yup, and usually very quickly.

Don't live too far from there now and used to live much closer. I'm betting that there was some influence issues that we will find out about before too long. As in, under the influence of something.

The suspect was from Durant, OK; he did not know the man he harassed in the McDonald's drive thru line;
he was driving a late model black Dodge Ram, regular cab; the shooting took place near the I-35E service road;
evidence indicates that the officers fired at least 12 rounds; the man was rushed by
LFD paramedics to the hospital, where he died 37 minutes later.
